My manager yelled at me because of my MAC makeup.

Everytime I go to work, I always have to wear black, well, everyone knows the rule of BLACK. You can wear any color eyeshadow/s if you were all black. It looks fine. Well, I always try and wear greens or blues when I wear black, and my manager came up to me the other day and told me I couldn't wear MAC anymore, because it challenged our makeup line, which I understand.

And then later she told me that had I noticed I only matched my eyes and my shirt like a week ago when I wore blue. And that I would have to wear only ONE color eyeshadow a day. I looked at her like she grew five heads.

Like WTF? I understand the MAC VS. Victoria's Secret bullcrap that you issued from your mouth. But now YOU'RE trying to tell me how to put on MY makeup?

This is coming from the manager who has as much creativity as a bath-mat and thinks being tan as hell and showing your stomach is still hot.

Do you think this is fair? That I'm not allowed to not only wear MAC, but now I HAVE to match my eyeshadows and have them be boring?

That's insane BS! I'd ask where in the rule book it states you can only wear one eyeshadow color... I can understand the MAC part, but the rest is just blatant BS!

I do not think it is fair, but then again that is the way that work goes. They pay us so they can make the rules. I know when I worked (I worked in a corporate office) We had a lot of rules. We had to wear panty hose, we had to have on a suit or a dress at all times, and our makeup could not be over the top. And we never even saw customers. So I can see where they are coming from. Do you all have an employee manual that tells you things like that?

haha well if she would fire u for that then listen to her . if shes being a ***** then to hell with her. unless ur making your eyes radiculously bad to an extent you affect uyour companys well being or else she has no right to say that to u

oh yes the mac part i can understand~!

None of this is in the dress code book. I looked it over. And my makeup is never really OVER the top, it's not shocking green or anything.

She's what we called the "dress code" manager. She hounds us for problems in our dress. She made me dye my hair four times until it was "just" black and brown. Even though it IS black and brown.

See the little dark red spot on my bangs? Like on the tips, yeah, that's why she made me dye my hair before I could go back to work.

And she also wanted me to take my extensions out, so I told her she would have to make the other girls take out their weaves if I had to take out my extensions.

that's just BS. i could understand the MAC part, but her telling you how to put makeup on... well, that's really funny. i suspect as you're both women maybe she feels challenged by your makeup. and if it's written nowhere you should only wear one e/s at work(

), she can go to hell. i don't know, but i think someone able to show creativity is perhaps more able to sell the products to a customer?

The other managers actually encourage showing your creativity off, and I have always sold beauty well. Hell, that's why I'm the BEAUTY SPECIALIST. But I personally think she's just jealous or something sometimes, she never bothers half the other girls as much as me.

Wow I can't believe that why would she want you to change your hair! She is definitely picking on you.

Damn. A bit obsessive with you, ain't she?

Well, basically - if it's not in your Work rules then don't apply it.

Simple as that.

If she threatens or compromises your job there - you can always take it to higher authority w/in the company.

I understand the MAC thing aswell, but telling you what colors you're allowed to wear or something, meh. And the hair color - I know some companies want a certain image which is fair I suppose, but you're extension/colors are totally fine. I see plenty of girls at VS who dress up their style a bit. You just have a hard-headed boss

It's not really against the law because you are an "at will" employee. Unless they are discriminating based on race, gender, sex, religion, etc. you can't say much. It IS complete BS though. At least the part about how many colors of e/s you can wear. I'd look for another job. She sounds like an idiot.

Sounds to me like you need to go to her superior because Lord knows I've seen some VS employees with multi color hair, and blazing makeup!
