I am getting really cheesed of with the UK. I don't like all the CCTV, parking, speed, insurance and tax cameras, and also the ones that just read your number plate and store where you have been on their computers.

I am fed up with the government adverts on the radio and television that use scary voives that say we know where you live so pay your tax, insure your car or we will come around, tow it away and crush it. And many other ones.

I am fed up with the weather and so I am moving to France. Don't how or when but I am going.

Anybody fed up with where they are and thinking about moving as well ?

Nope... Not me!! I love where I live!! Low taxes... Pleasant environment! Affordable housing.. Lowerish unemployment compared to the rest of the country.. Plenty of entertainment.. No cameras.. Could use a bit more sunshine but I'm not compaining at all!!

Sunday's the Vintage Grand Prix so I'm spending all day watching old race cars zoomin through the park!

.

lots of things annoy me about my country, but I know that if I were to move, there would just be a whole NEW set of irritations in the new country! I mean let's face it, most governments are at least somewhat corrupt, no one cares about climate change, minorities are being repressed, pointless wars are being fought, money and food wasted, rich people undertaxed, poor people over taxed....

The whole world sucks basically.

Yes I know what you mean Pinksugar, nowhere is perfect but what is bugging me is my country is not the one I grew up in. So much has changed in so little time. Apart from the constant government surveillance, they have introduced over 3500 new laws in the last 12 years which is something like twice as many as we have had since the second world war or something.

I can look at a new country and decide if I like the laws and the way they conduct themselves. Of course I cannot predict how they will change but I have chosen to live by those rules and not had them forced on me.

That is the difference. In France if the people don't like something, they will take to the street and let the government know it. In the UK we say things like, well if you have nothing to hide it is alright or mustn't grumble and roll over and take it without a murmor.

I have to get there. NOW.

Wow Kelebekiz looks like you have been around. How do you find the language thing ? I am having troubles brushing up my schoolgirl French I would hate to think how it would be for me to learn Turkish. I would also have trouble keeping stopping smoking with those yummy Turkish cigarettes.

Sounds great though.

Yes!!! I am so tired of everybody always being in a rush in the United States, so I decided to spend three months here in Bangladesh, and another three months in South Korea with my boyfriend to see if I could live in either of these places. My dad's family lives here and his mom's family lives there (we are both half white). I like it here a lot even though Bangladesh is not as technologically advanced as other countries and is really overcrowded. I'm hoping South Korea isn't rushed like the U.S. is. My boyfriend says that he really has no idea what life outside the military zone is like, since that was where he was raised. His family really likes it, though, so it can't be that bad.

I guess in the military you don't have a say in where they send you. Always interesting and if you don't like it, at least you know when you are going to move. LOL

LOL exactly! And everything looks the same...it's so boring!

I don't know what the big deal about starting over is...it's a challenge but if you're optimistic about it, that's all that matters...there are people you will have to leave behind, but I've had to do it many times, and find that the ones that really care about you will keep in touch. Moving can be for the better -- it all depends on how you look at it.

Language barriers will always be an issue, but they can be overcome quickly. I got all of the levels of Pimsleur Korean and now I have no issue speaking with myboyfriend's mother or any of his relatives in Korean. Writing it is another issue, but I can speak enough to have a decent conversation and I can carry on a daily routine in Korean. I think all that matters in this case is whether or not you have an English-speaking contact in the country in question. Being around the language is enough for you to absorb it.

Gotta tell you this: I moved last January to the South Kent area for three months, for a job transfer. I made more money than in Italy with a lower cost of living ( South Kent is not London or Milan). At the end of March I asked to be transferred back to Milan. I liked the people a lot, not the quality of life that is at the mom "plaguing" the UK: taxes, unemployment, can't take a picture of public places without getting interrogated by police and yeah, cameras everywhere to fine you if you pick your nose once too many. Otherwise, you folks are adorable. South of France?

I'd do the same, away from busy busy trafficky Milan (may be once I retire...)

We're due a revolution! I have a lot of views on this which i dont even want to discuss for fear of getting done for terrorism and im not joking!!!

After 9/11, the terrorist attacks, in the long run, succeded in slowly but steadily limiting our liberty to act and think in full democracy. i think it's all coming from there. We live in worry, now, in the Western world countries...What're they going to do next?? And so the number of laws increases as well as a lot of limits to our democracies...Before then, it was a crime against a citisen's privacy rigths to have cameras in the street, the only ones were placed by stop light to deter unlawful driving, but now they're everywhere here, too...The only thing that the gov't is trying to do is to contain taxes and keep consumer goods' prices pretty low.

A little revolution is a good thing once in a while.. So said George Washington!

I'm still happy here.. So far I can pick my nose without the swat team decending.. I did get yelled at by security for taking photos of myself at a casino last year.. I think they just didn't like transvestites.. Though the took my money for sure!! Lol.

How can a company become bigger than a government!!!!

If I didnt get a PhD the plan was to go to the army and slowly build a guerilla band starting in the inaccessible mountainous areas of Scotland, even have basic plans drawn up for everything including the propaganda and I'm not joking!

If I got raided then Id probably face terrorism charges, how insane is that! All it is at the moment is a dream! Cant people have there own dreams anymore!

Sorry this really touches a nerve

That is another reason why I train my mind and body

I completely understand what you mean, i hate living here too. If i had my way i'd move to another country, probably the US cause i love it there but it's never going to happen so i'm stuck here

Its our country! We are the people! Dont abandon it!!!
Its in our hands, we can take our country back!

I recommend reading Ernesto Che Guevaras Guerilla Warfare manual from 1961 and Carlos Marighellas Urban Guerilla warfare manual.

On another note where in England do you live?

I completely agree we moved to France from the UK last October due to the issues you mention and I don't regret it for a second even though we don't speak much french. Just brought a huge house for 50k (Euros) and no council tax or speed cameras plus a fab summer with sun! Highly recommend it!

Dont disband! Your making my heart bleed! I love this country more than anything else, I would die for it!

Also where in England do you live?

Since moving from Scotland ive become a party animal turned into a reclusive loner, just dont fit in here, Im in Warwickshire for work reasons, I cant wait to be back in the Homeland again!

Arghhhh! How did they dare? Were you in the US or in Europe? In Italy not only you can still pictures of public buildings (with all that art around the country, tourism industry would die if they came out with such a law), but people just adore tansvestives. We have a lot of tv shows led by transvestives, there is more fun, humor, intelligence. If you were in a protestant state like Penna, I believe it's an army macho issue (My former American husband was a big shot in the Navy, where sexism and homophobia run wild..). If I were to move anywhere the Provence (southern France) would still be my first choice but, as I love nature and big, underpopulated places, Oregon or Washington State would be perfect for me, as well as Norther California, from Frisco going norht (exception: Santa Barbara, a jewel of a town). People are more relaxed about religious or sexual preferences. Live and let live.

In my case, it was the constantly glooomy weather more than anything else... I did love the people, I was there all alone for only three months and already making loads of friends. I discovered with great pleasure that English people are nice and friendly and fun to be with, not a bit of racism towards Italian, on the contrary, I was seeked as being some kind of exotic friend to have (and possibly cook

). The weather, my gloomy flat, I was missing my son, that's what made me come back. East Kent is not fantastic in terms of what it has to offer but I saw other parts of Kent and England that make you want to live there forever. Scotland is way too beautiful to be true, my boss is from Glasgow, I love their impossible accent )!) and when I viisited I felt like the people were even more friendly than the English! I felt at home. I even ate haggies, which is an act of bravery for an Italian

Still, the weather...

Yeah its different being a Scot in England, we kinda have some tension. Plus no one here can understand me as my accent is very thick and i speak way too quick. Yes they Scots are way more friendly, i didnt realise it until i moved to England; foreigners always told me the Scots seemed more welcoming and friendly but i thoguht they were just being polite. Reading your post put a smile on my face! Thanks!
As did that plant type smiley face - in fact its more of a reminder!
