Good Skincare Habits

Skincare is very important to any beauty routine.  Before you prime your beautiful skin, you want to make sure your skin is clean and protected from the environment. Cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing are all important steps in this process, but here I offer a few steps to improve your daily routine and for you to achieve better results.

Tip 1: Make sure you are using the right cleanser for your skin. Some brighten the skin, while others help with acne. I use Clean and Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Cleanser because not only does it wake me up in the morning, it is oil-free, and it brightens my skin, which is great for hyperpigmentation. Sensitive skin may need gentler and fragrance-free cleansers. If you have sensitive skin, I recommend Simple. Simple has a whole skin care line dedicated to sensitive skin, and in most cases, can be found at your local drugstore.

Tip 2: Along with using the right cleanser, make sure you cleanse your skin at least twice a day! You shed a lot of dead skin cells while you are sleeping and these cells get on your sheets and pillowcases. Washing your face in the morning helps to remove those dead skin cells and gives you a natural clean glow. It is also important to wash your skin at night to get rid of all the dirt and debris from the day. This helps to unclog pores, and keeps your face free of breakouts.

Tip 3: Only exfoliate once a week!  Most people make the mistake of over exfoliating their skin. When you are removing layers of skin every day, you are actually inviting bacteria to your skin. Things like glycolic acid, skin peels, and exfoliators are supposed to be used sparsely.

Tip 4: Wearing sunscreen is good for any type of weather, even cloudy! Ultra-violet rays can pass through clouds, so you can certainly get sunburned on sunny day as much as on a cloudy one.  The sun can be very dangerous to the skin, so if you want to prevent sunburn, discolorations, and skin cancer, it helps to wear sunscreen!

Tip 5: Just because one product from a skincare line works for you does not mean every product will be that perfect. Do’t be afraid to mix and match different products from different skincare lines. Everybody’s skin is different, so you have to find out what works best for you!

That is all I have for right now. If you need more of a guide to different skincare products , check out the link for all of skin product MuT has listed. There may be a Part 2 somewhere down the line, but in the meantime, leave a comment below and share some of your skincare habits. Until next time!
