High-End Brands vs. Drugstore Makeup

High-End   Drugstore

1000

VS

1000

Why you should splurge:

  • Higher-end brands usually have the latest trends before anyone else.
  • You can sample splurge products before you buy at stores like Sephora.
  • High-end eye shadows tend to have great pigmentation and staying power.

Why you could be wasting your money:

  • Not all high-end products work like they promise to.
  • Sometimes you’re paying a higher premium for the same ingredients.

Why you should save:

  • Cheaper prices mean you can buy more for the same amount of money.
  • Drugstore brands can be found almost anywhere, even grocery stores.
  • Most MuT members agree – drugstore mascara is just as good, if not better!

Why you could be wasting your money:

  • Most drugstores don’t allow you to try them out or take samples home.
  • Some drugstore products are made with cheaper ingredients that could irritate.

Final verdict:  In the end, you usually get what you pay for – if you want products that last, high-end can be better. But the debate isn’t over! As with any rule, there are always exceptions! Personal preferences vary, so experiment to find what works best for you. I love Benefit’s Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, but I’ve also found that e.l.f. Eyelid Primer works as good as any name brand. Don’t be afraid to mix and match; the important thing is that you enjoy what you use.
