The boyfriend and I are moving back to LA. There's no work for me in Mass and sadly it seems you need a solid network to make it in NY, or you need to have limitless money coming in from somewhere while you get on your feet.

So we'll be flying back and having our cars shipped. Problem is we have 2 kitties.

I was wondering if anyone has ever flown with pets and what their experience has been. Any tips? Or stories?? I'm not too cool with them being put in cargo but I've heard if you take them on with you only one pet is allowed per flight...

I understand that there's an extra fee and you have to get the buggers checked out at the vet to get a clean bill of health plus possible pills to help them cope with the stressful event. My pets have been across the country in car before, but they've never been on a plane.

Thanks!!

I have no idea. I heard they have to be put in quarantine for a few months as well, but maybe that's just international flights?

best of luck travelling with your furbabies!

That's just international. Some states require a clean bill of health to fly with pets, CA doesn't but I'm not sure about Rhode Island.

I know that they allow more than one animal in the cabin of the aircraft. It may be that you can get with your airline and work something out. I assume you will need 2 pet carriers, one each. When I flew with Amanda as a puppy it wasn't that big of a deal and I even got to let her out of the carrier. There is an extra charge, but it's not that much.

I've never flown with pets, but when I flew back from Oklahoma in October, the whole flight I never even knew there was a dog in the seat in front of me!

It was some tiny thing in a doggie purse and the only way I knew about it was as I was doing the shuffle to get out of the seat, the guy handed the doggy to the girlfriend.

I told them I had no idea the dog was there and they said the dog was happy and comfortable to with them and just took a nap.

The dog acted better than a lot of peopple on flights...

It will be fine and if you and your bf are flying together you can have one pet each right?

I know it is done a lot of times, you just need a pet carrier/crate for them. Try not to give them food or water an hour or two before the flight to minimize airsickness.

GL and I am sorry to hear it didnt work out for you. But hey... CA is kick ass anyway.
