me too! Hubby forbides it now! at least till I get my own job to pay for my own crap as he puts it.

Just got back from redeeming my Ulta points this evening.  I picked up the perfume "Clean" in Warm Cotton (thanks Girlyenthusiast for getting me hooked on the sample), my 200 cotton squares, the Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo/Conditioner and makeup remover wipes from Boots No.7. Only the perfume and squares were a part of my redemption.  The other 3 I bought and used my 3.50 off 10 dollar purchase.  Not too shabby

I'm on the fence with Ulta for a few reasons.

I work in Ulta 8-10 times a month, and I find that corporately speaking, it's a solid organization. That said, the skill levels of most Prestige staff (And this includes the Prestige Mgr's) are crap.  Hiring practices are sub par.

I don't like the layout of the store, or the style. It's ugly, confusing and bare bones/low budget. Housekeeping also seems to be an ongoing challenge.

The brands don't wow me ... I see industry leaders positioned next to industry losers. Not sure what's going on with their Buying team ... and they never have enough stock.

Supplies are super low end and no dramming supplies are available. I bring my own as back ups.

Their 'free magazine subscription' irks me to no end. Stop hawking sh!tty magazines and stop being so stingy with the sampling program....

The other doors I work in - Sephora, Macy's, etc - have better style, better brand selection, higher quality supplies and are better run.

That said, I do love the clients that come in - I find they tend to have lower expectations of their shopping experience and when they encounter a Pro Artist, they get all kinds of excited and appreciate my tutorials and make overs.

The only brands I get excited about in Ulta are Zoya, Mario Badescu and Cargo.
Thanks for that Its always great to know how the inside works. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Forgot to say the Salon staff at my Ulta are incredible. Highly talented and underrated. I also love how they have very affordable skin treatments with their aestheticians. Everyone, go make an appointment for a Go and Glow flash exfoliation treatment. It's only $20, and your skin looks brand new afterward. I am addicted to these! That is also a pretty big distinction between Ulta and Sephora. Doesn't hurt to have cool salon services in the same place.

Yay! My order is here! I took some quick snaps but I'll be doing an entire FOTD tomorrow and swatches of any color I don't use!

Excited!

I just got my Ulta order in today!  (And if anyone is interested in getting one of these bags, Ulta online is also offering free shipping on orders of 25 dollars or more, so if you're going to spend the 17.50 to get the bag, might as well add something else on there and take advantage of that offer too!)

I chose the Paradise Bloom set.  A quick review of the stuff included.  :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The Bag     - Super cute!  Roomy enough to fit extra thangs in.

Nail Polish  - It's not full size, but at .24 oz it's substantial.  The color, while true to the color in the bottle in as little as two coats (dries very quickly) just isn't my thing.  It's not very vivid, and just kinda looks cheap and young.  Not teenager young.  Little kiddie young.

Blush -  It doesn't blend so well with the included brush, so you'll need a nicer one to make it work.  Adds a faint bit of color but nothing else.  Seems to stand out a bit too much on my pale skin anyway.  Meh.

Brushes  -  Three Cheap little travel size brushes.  One small shadow brush, one angled blush brush and an eyesponge thingy brush (I just use it for putting concealor on the inner corner of my eye... my dark circles are pretty stubborn).  Plastic, uneven bristles.  I do like that they are travel sized, though, so they will be juuuuuuuuuust fine for touch ups.  Glad I got em.

Eyeshadow  - Two palettes each with four colors, and each palette has a little mirror and applicator.  You get a decent amount of each product.  I haven't yet tried the more shimmery brown quad, because I have TONS of neutral and brown matte and shimmer shadows, I was more interested in the brighter quad that contained a vivid, matte yellow, pearly white, shimmery bright teal and deep, slightly sparkly navy blue.  The yellow and teal look AMAZING.  True to pigment and blendable enough.  The pearly white however sort of looks grey and dead on the skin, and the navy just shows up as a poorly pigmented black on the eye.  Dissapoint. All the shadows do have a little fallout, and I have no idea yet how good they stand up for long wear.

Mascara   -  A full size and it's pretty legit.  Goes on very easy with no clumps.  Can't say much for thickening and lengthening, because I already have long, thick lashes so clumps and heaviness is all I watch out for.  As mentioned, none of this has been tested for long wear, so I can't say if it smudges or flakes.

Eye liner duo sticks-  In shades of brown and black.  A little too hard and they skip on the skin, and aren't pigmented well enough for the waterline.  Can already tell they have fading and smudging issues.

Lipstick  -  Is really hard and as someone else mentioned, doesn't really have much color pay off.  Still, it's a pale bronze that doesn't turn orange on me or sparkle too much.  Makes a good base for the lip gloss.

Lip Gloss Duo - One a pale, peachy pink (it appears kinda nude on the lip) and the other a darker, more orange shade.  Have only tried the pink but I like it so far.  Makes my dry lips feel plump but not sticky, smooths away any "imperfections" on my lips while not being distractingly "does this girl have a slobbering problem" shiny.  Seems to last pretty well, since I've been typing this while drinking a coke and I can still feel it glossy and sassy on me lips, and I'm used to most lip glosses lasting a few minutes on me at best.

So, for a freebie with purchase, it's pretty awesome.  I used this bag (plus some of my own foundation), including the brushes (and two of my own brushes) to make a pretty vibrant, probably not sanely wearable look I call "Cockatoo."  Mainly, yellow on the lid blended with a little white along the brow and on the inner corners.  Black liner on the under waterline and on the top half and bottom corner of the eyes, a good thick line but no wing.  A thick shadow brush loaded with teal swept under the eye, beginning just before the liner starts and extending out to a wing.  Basically like crescents of crazy teal cradling your eyes.  Then apply a little of the blush on the apples of the cheeks, load up on dat 'scara, and pop a pale concealer on the lips.  Then finish the lips off with the lipstick and the paler lip gloss.

Would post pics if I owned a camera.  Just know this looks crazy.

Okay.  I is liar.  I do have a camera, I just thought its memory card didn't work (turns out it just didn't work with my old, less awesome laptop.)

Here's picture of crazy and pretentious Cockatoo look.  Complete with bright lights in bathroom kindly erasing all the flaws and lines on my face for me!  But the color on the lips and eyes is true, true true.

Its a fun glitter! I missed out on rainbow connection in the opi muppets collection because I kept forgetting to go look for it, and its similar.

I should be getting my Ulta order today. Of course I am at work until tomorrow morning so I won't get to see it until then but I'm excited! I also have a small order coming from BHCosmetics.
