Beautiful Hair in 1, 5, 10 or 30 Minutes

Your Perfect Hair Routine
Your mornings may be unpredictable, but the state of your hair doesn't have to be. Choose one of the following routines for hair that looks great in next to no time. And best of all, no hats required.

1 Minute
If your hair is feeling oily, try one of the new no-shampoo sprays, which soak up oil like hair powders but without the mess (Bumble & Bumble do one!). If your problem is a misshapen style, freshen up your look with a cream-based styler, which won't leave your hair gunky like second-day hairspray can. Another option is pulling your locks into a low, slicked-back ponytail for easy chic.

5 Minutes
When washing and conditioning your hair, don't worry about those "leave on for one minute" warnings. Dry air can suck the moisture right out of your hair, particularly in winter. So allow conditioner to soak in while, say, shaving your legs.
If you're skipping the shower, try this easy updo: Part your hair on the side and pull it into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck, securing it with an elastic band. Then simply twist the ponytail, tie it into a knot and fasten with bobby pins.

10 Minutes
When the clock is ticking, you can spend less time under the showerhead by using a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner. To increase your hair's natural shine, try rinsing hair in cold water to help close the cuticle and seal in moisture.
To add volume, apply styling products primarily at the roots (2-4 inches outward from scalp depending on hair type). Blow-dry or diffuse hair upside down and on gentle settings for added lift.

30 Minutes
Blow-drying can actually be good for your hair-if you first use a creamy hair mask or deep-conditioning treatment. Leave it on for about 20 minutes, focusing on the middle and ends of your hair, then dry it with a dryer. The heat will help the emollient penetrate your hair, leaving it smooth and silky.

Pampering Treat
Before you shampoo or condition, give yourself a head massage with essential oils found at any health-food store. Looking to relax? Try jasmine or ylang-ylang. For energy, opt for mint or citrus. Massage for a few moments, then shampoo.
To combat the drying effects of winter, treat your hair to a deep conditioning treatment. Simply apply a creamy conditioner and wrap with a towel. Leave on for three-five minutes.
