There was a valid point made in the thread about the Birchbox Subscription Polls and while I was typing my response the thread was locked. Seemed like very convenient timing. Below is my response to that question. Along with everyone else, I feel that I have a right to voice my thoughts and opinions.

Funny to note there are no complaints about this on the "pro" or happy bb poll thread..
I thought about that but there is a key difference. The original poster of this thread claims to be gathering data to report back to BB therefore making it "Market Research". The original poster of this thread is lobbying BB for an all expense paid trip to New York to meet with them and is using MuT as a means to achieve that goal. Given her intentions, she should have posted this on her blog and not here as it IS a violation of the TOS. Is she above the rules for her personal gain? Would she have deleted a thread and issued an infraction to someone else if they had done the same? The rules should apply to everyone. The original poster of the other threa does not have the same intention and made no claims about reporting back to BB. Her poll questions are pretty much the same and border on silly. The point is not whether or not the threads are valid and scientific market research or if people have a right to voice their opinions about a product. They can do so directly to BB via their Facebook, email or direct correspondence. This forum is not a vehicle for anyone to conduct market research unless they are a paid advertiser. The community manager should not only not be an exception to the rule, she should conduct herself to an even higher standard. That was the point I was trying to make.

Yea, I only made the second one because I thought the first one was not an accurate reflection of many of the opinions here, we are actually having a nice thread going on over there.

I have no contact with Birchbox, or anybody officially affiliated with them.

Nothing about it is at all intended to represent any legitimate data, just offering a little BB Love to counteract the BB Hate

Disclaimer: I met the Birchbox Team on a flight to SXSW 2012 , Katia wasn't allowed to fly on the same plane (ya know so if there is an accident both founders won't die) but the rest of the team was sooo nice and funny. They were still pretty small in March, but they were all genuinely nice people, it also helps that SXSW is like Spring Break for Tech Companies :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I locked the thread, so people taking issue can direct it at me. Because of the commentary regarding what the "data" or responses would be used for, I did so. Not commentary regarding people's feelings and actual responses, but because of it falling under market research. No one person is above the TOS, agreed on that. Sometimes, we need a reminder, because things do slip past attentions. I'm not trying to stifle opinions or stick it to anyone. I don't know the motives behind the poll as are being expressed above, except for what was outlined in the message sent to myself and others via PM. Since the other poll(gypsie's) was created to counterbalance the negative focus, I let it stand. Also, because it was created only to give platform to a different opinion and not for market research.

It is a sad commentary that another mod is locking this thread, not the creator, the community manager no less.

I appreciate your response and input.

If people take issue with it, I will take no offense if you choose to lock it as well. We are basically complaining about the complaints. No useful data could be gathered from that :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Are you serious?  I didn't know that Birchbox was so big that they needed to keep one of the founders alive. (Not trying to mock them, but just genuinely surprised.) It must kind of be like Pres and VP.  I

I actually know several families who prefer to travel separately, so if there's a tragic accident they won't all die.

It's not as uncommon as you think :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Its basically insuring your financial backers that the company won't lose all of its majority of the executive team. It happens for generally any company once there is real money involved. At this point in time I think they have raised 15 mil.

Yes, espescially when its two parents travelling, I know many who will fly on sequential flights.

Its pretty smart because sadly I have heard of two separate small plane crashes where sets of parents were killed, leaving behind sets of siblings.

Quite sad, but a company uses the principle for the same reasons.

When the Tesla executives wen't down in the accident, there were others on a different flight. Larry and Sergey from Google haven't been on the same flight like ever. They charter two separate jets.
