Hi all,

I've been a member for a month or so but don't post much.  My husband and I have a blueberry farm, and I recently read a cool article about how blueberries can be crushed and made into a facial mask, so I think I'll try that this year with some of the less than perfect ones from our harvest.   Don't know why I never thought to try this before, but I guess if they are good for you on the inside, they'd be good for you on the outside too!  The article promises I won't look like Violet from Willy Wonka.  Hope it's true!  LOL!

LOL.  The first thing I thought about was Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Blueberries are full of antioxidants but I've never tried it.  Let us know how it goes and what you put into your mask!  I would prefer to eat them tho.

that sounds AMAZING!!  Blueberries are a powerhouse!!!  Mix it with other antioxidants and even some vitamin c!  i wonder if it would stain your face?  I once did a mask with lime extract in it and it turned my face a yellowish green color lol!!

Ooh sounds deliciously good!! I would love to try that :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Please let us know how it goes... also do you just crush the blueberries and smear on your face or do you add something else to it??

I sure will!  The article I read just mentioned smushing them up, so I think it's just the berries & nothing additional.  I'll try it out this weekend and let you all know how it goes. If my skin turns blue though, I am calling in sick next Monday!  LOL!!

I'm hoping it won't turn my skin blue, so keep your fingers crossed!  :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />  I think that's a great idea to add extra antioxidants to it!

Sorry to hear about the lime extract foray!  YIKES!  LOL!!  Guess it would be good around St. Patricks Day though!  ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

LOL!!!!  Yep!  I can't get the thought of Violet out of my head!  "I WANT AN OOPMA LOOMPA NOW, DADDY!"  (I'm old enough to remember the original movie, LOL!!!)

I love blueberries & buy a couple of pints weekly! I'll have to try this when I don't get to them in time and they get slightly squishy. I do use Say Yes To Blueberries serum though. I truly believe it helps to keep my skin healthy but leftover blueberries are cheaper!

My uncle has had a blueberry farm for about 25 years now, actually. They started making blueberry wine some years back, so I asked them for some of the leftover crushed berries, which they had dehydrated & saved. They were hoping to figure out something to do with them. I love mixing up my own products, especially masks, so I figured I'd mess around with them and see what I could come up with. I've rehydrated them a few times & added different extracts & other natural ingredients to them, just to see what they do for my skin. Because they're dehydrated, the antioxidants in the skins are even more concentrated, according to my naturopath. I didn't wind up with a blue face :) They left my skin quite soft, even-toned, and smooth. I always keep some of them on hand from each year's harvest to make masks with. Especially in the summer when my skin is feeling like it's had enough sun.

Hi Corvettekrista!

I love the "Yes To" line as well!  I have the YT Blueberries eye cream and love it!  I just figure, I'm buried in blueberries here on the farm, so I might as well get some use out of them!  LOL!  :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Well, I took the plunge and tried the blueberry facial last night.  I mashed up the berries and warmed them a bit in the microwave.  I smeared it all over my face and started cracking up!  I looked like I had some weird skin disease!

I was hoping my husband wouldn't walk in while I was sitting in the bathroom with the mush on my face, but no such luck.  He just looked at me, rolled his eyes, and walked back out (he's used to me doing stuff like this!  LOL!!!)

Anyhoo...it felt kind of tight on my face as it was drying, but other than that, it wasn't unpleasant.  I left it on for about 15 minutes, and then rinsed.  My skin looked brighter and felt really soft!  I'm definitely going to do it again next weekend.  I'm interested to see if I keep it up for a few months what happens.  And nope, my face didn't turn blue.  YEAY!

Since we own our farm, it's like free access to great antioxidants for the inside and out! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for letting us know how it all went!

By the sounds of it, I think this mask would be good for oily skin because it has a tightning effect, very similar to yoghurt.
