with liquid foundation i tend to use a sponge or my fingers. for a brush, i guess you have to choose one that is soft enough for your skin and wash it regularly to avoid making your acne worse.

well, i've given up on liquid foundations, but what really changed my life is mineral makeup. give it a try !

oh, another idea : why not mix some foundation with your moisturizer ?

If you choose a synthetic brush and wash it after every time you use it, it shouldn't irritate your acne.

Wet your sponge (just dampen) before use, and it will not suck up as much foundation.

i break out easily too.

i use a synthetic brush the few times i use foundation.

just make sure you wash the brush often, and you shouldnt have a problem.

You can try clean fingers as well. Maybe just use the sponge to do a final blending once yuo've applied as much as you need too =)
