Colored eyeshadow, too "hooker-ish" ?

How dare someone refer to hookers that way, they typically look really pretty with a natural look, after all a girls gotta make a living. When the color is a white base, pale blue shimmer, applied too heavy and from lash to brow it's called bar slut blue, I used to see many of them in the 80's, in fact I knew a few of them.

  Have fun wear color!

It all comes down to how you wear it and what shades you choose. Electric blue might not be flattering on your skin, but Navy blue might. It all depends on application and blending. If you are confident in wearing colored eyeshadow, do it! Dont let some youtube personality make you feel like you cant.

OMG HAHAHHAHAH Bar Slut Blue!!! Im dying over here!

Ignore narrow minded, pinheaded YouTube 'hookers' who do quite the job of doing people's heads in. Who the hell is she to make a judgement like that, whoever she is. 'Guru' means teacher. No real 'teacher' would spew something like that. Wear what makes YOU feel good & completely forget about hearing rubbish like that. This is one of the many reasons I love gossmakeupartist. He's an actual professional MUA and never makes such ignorant statements or tries to make people feel like they are less than him.

I love temptalia, her looks at so classy and cute. Here's blue eyeshadow done right:

Wow, I love this look!  Thanks for posting it.  I have brown eyes and I never would have thought to blend these shades together, it looks so pretty, I can't wait to try it.  I love how she used the blue and the gold both on the bottom and used the gold as a highlight on the inner corners of her eye.  The blue and gold comes together and makes a pretty shade of green, this look has so many hues going on, it's gorgeous.

Bright makeup doesn't make you a hooker (or by golly I'd get an award for being the greatest hooker of all time!).

To me it's more about what you're using and how you're using it. Like if I were much older (with wrinkles) and wearing glitter like a teenager. Then I'd feel well...not like a hooker...but most certainly a cougar. lol. Or that chola look.

I'm over 50 and I LOVE using color.. Luckily, I have all these years of experience with using it LOL, so it never looks overdone or cheap/ tacky.

IF I really tried, I could make a very tacky looking eye with The Nakeds palette. ALL eyeshadow has " color" and any color can become too intense with a heavy hand.

Love Temptalia. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Have been a member there for a long time. Her eye is gorgeous for all, IMO. The girl with the negative comments on her vblog- Why are you all even going there?

Do your OWN thing with your OWN eye makeup. Create your own shapes and colors which are right for YOU. A Vblog or YT vid of a person with different coloring or even different shaped face or eyes will hopefully do things differently than someone who is not her exact twin.

If you need help figuring it all out for yourself, go to a Sephora counter and get an eye makeover. If they do something you don't like, say so and ask for something else. They have bottles of eye makeup remover for that reason.

Be your own person, that's my message learned from many years of excellent individualism. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Piggydog - u soooooo don't look like a hooker. In fact that eyeshadow is gorgeous!

Personally I don't think twice about what ppl say about makeup, especially making silly comments like looking 'hooker-ish'. I don't give it a second thought. It's so moronic that it defies comprehension. I'm still gonna rock my bright eyeshadow or bright lips or whatever I want, when I want to. Ppl are always gonna have something to say. U can't let those things get to u. Hookers wear thongs and boots. Does that make those things bad? Just because someone suggests something, doesn't make it true. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The only thing about Temptalia is that she has too much going on on her face at once. I know she has to test the products out but sometimes it's a bit overboard. I've seen that her swatches are off also. I like watching her videos and I do frequent her site though.

well than all cosmetics companies who create eye shadow, lips sticks  and so on create it only for hookers judging by this blogger video..... :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> How silly. I am a make up artist and love all the colors!

Personally I agree with the others. If you like wearing it, and are happy with how you look, that's all that ultimately matters. I think it's cute when people wear colored eyeshadow! It would be pretty boring if everyone wore browns and neutrals.
I agree 100 %.

Blue eyeshadow makes you look like a hooker?  Uh oh, I'm flaunting the wrong profession, then.  Yes, I agree that bold colors can lead to a drag-queenish look (and so help, I refer to myself as a dragqueen in a woman's body), but hookerish?  Nah.  I don't really think there's a dress code for prostitutes.  Most porn stars go for a smokey eye, cut-crease, or insane cat eye now anyway.

Do I still think of Tammy Faye Baker when I see poorly applied blue eyeshadow?  Yes.  Am I dating myself with the reference?  Yes.  Does that mean that no one else in the world can pull it off?  Nope.  If the color is flattering and you like it, go for it.  :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />  After all, back in the day, wearing lipstick and blush/powder was limited to ladies-of-the-night only.  It was simply scandalous to be seen wearing it.  Under this line of thought, I suspect we are all quite scandalous here.  :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Sounds like she should stop patroning hookers who don't apply their blues properly. Heh heh heh

I wear colored eyeshadow a lot for everyday looks and I never thought of it that way. This morning when I did my makeup I felt kind if weird putting on my *blue* shadow. I think it depends on how you wear it, and what you wear it with; if it is more dramatic or subtle; I definitely never considered it hooker-ish. But, like I said, now I feel weird when I put it on! :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> What do you guys think about it?
Oh that's rediculous! I've seen some hookers wearing way too much makeup like a drag queen and I've seen hookers that wear their makeup just like anyone else. Don't feel weird! You go with what you feel makes you look and feel good!

I'm with a lot of your ladies. Nothing wrong with blue eyeshadow. I wore aquamarine eyeliner at my wedding and I'd like to think it wasn't hookerish.  BUT it's important to apply it effectively. I guess if you're still worried about the level of hooker-itude, it's always smart to do what y'all have done in the pictures and pair it with a nude/more subtle lip.

I have no artistic skills except when it comes to make up, so I use them to the fullest. A lot of my friends don't like the colorful eyeshadow, but I think they just are afraid to experiment. I enjoy seeing what I can come up with, and if it works, it works. I think you can go overboard, and you must master the talent of blending, but a little oomph to the eye never hurts.
