Started coloring my hair last spring. Mostly Grey, wanted to color back to my medium brown color. Tried various brown coloring products from medium brown to dark brown. Result was my hair had a reddish tint after coloring. Someone said to try a ash brown color product. Have tried medium ash brown in two shades however still have a reddish tint to my hair color. What do you suggest for making my hair medium brown without reddish tint?

Have you tried using shampoo and styling products for brunettes? Or maybe a brown gloss/glaze to help with the red?

No I haven't tried shampoo or styling products for brunettes. Will seek advice at Sally's Beauty Supply store where I purchase hair coloring products. I believe my first hair coloring attempt was a brunette shade from L'Oreal and that also gave a red tint.

I have the same issue, I dye my hair dark brown but anything with red tones doesn't flatter my skintone. I have found some dyes that claim to be cool or ash toned still lean too red, and I find that most will fade to reddish tones regardless. I find it's about finding the right dye. I really liked a Feria one but they discontinued it I think, haven't seen it anywhere for a long time. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The one I'm using right now and really like is Clairol Nice n' Easy in shade 120 Natural Dark Brown.

Here's a photo of me a day or so after dyeing it. It's very dark here, after the first wash or two it was lighter than this, but you can see there are no red tones at all.

Went to Sally Beauty Supply store yesterday and asked the attendant about a color that wouldn't leave a reddish tint to my hair. I like ion product for coloring my hair, seems to last longer than Clairol or L'Oreal products I have used. She suggested I try a light ash brown instead of the darker ash browns I tried before. Colored my hair this morning with ion Light Ash Brown #305425 color and ion Sensitive Scalp 20 Volume Creme Developer after shampoo and conditioner used ion Color Defense After-Color Sealer. Seems the red tint is very minimal if at all after air drying. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Will watch for a few days to see if the red tint comes back.

Has been over a week since coloring my hair with ion® Light Ash Brown #305425. The red tint has not appeared as of today.
