Cottage Cheese Bake

Ingredients

  • 1 8-oz package pasta (shell, spiral, or similar shape)
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 8-oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt or garlic powder
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped (we like a lot more though!)
  • 3/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
Directions[*]Cook pasta and drain.

[*]Brown beef in butter. Add tomato sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.

[*]In a bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, green onions, and pasta.

[*]In a baking dish, put a layer of meat mixture, then a layer of pasta mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used. Top with cheddar cheese.

[*]Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

 
wow this sounds good! what does it taste like? is it like a lasagna?? i love cottage cheese so i want to try this!

 
It's not quite like lasagna, there's not as much tomato flavor, and the cottage cheese (and green onions if you use an entire bunch like we do, lol) are the predominant flavors. But we like about any kind of cheesy casserole

If you really like the cheese, you can add a little extra cottage cheese and sour cream to make it creamier!
