OOhh I've got lots!!! I read somewhere that scents can actually trigger memories better than images. I completely agree! I would sometimes smell something and I can remember clearly what I was doing at the moment and I even start re-experiencing the feelings I had with that particular memory.

The smell of banana leaves remind me of my childhood years in the Philippines...playing with my cousins by the ocean...making flower bracelets with my aunties...relaxing outside the house on a balmy afternoon with my late grandma and my mom...ahhhh...memories.

The smell of sweet strawberry juice reminds me of preschool. My mom used to always make me this Tang juice (strawberry flavor I'm guessing) and pack it in my lunch pail. LOL.

The smell of fresh rain reminds me of my old crushes back when I was younger for some reason. Haha.

Any strong perfume reminds me of Christmas shopping...everytime I go Christmas shopping I pass by Macys and it just smells like all kinds of perfumes in there.

Tommy Girl reminds me of when I first met my man. I had a big ol' bottle of it for my birthday so I wore that for a while.

Aww...Vicks vapor rub reminds me of my mom. She always sniffs it and puts it on her temples when she has a headache. She also puts some around her nose before she goes to bed. Now I do the same exact thing. LOL.

Drakkar Noir Mens Cologne reminds me of my BF when we were in Highschool.

Estee Lauder Beautiful reminds me of my Grandma.

There is a particular Yankee Candle that I used to have to light everyday when I worked in an Adult Store. The candle was in the room with the toys to mask the smell of plastic. There have been many times when I was at someones house and they had that candle. Kinda creeps me out!! The last time I had a "fragrance flashback" was in a Cab in Long Beach. The cab driver was talking to me and I guess I zoned out on the smell...he was like "Miss...Miss" When I finally snapped out of it I said "I'm sorry I drifted off, this cab smells just like a porn store I worked at"...he looked at me like I was nuts!!!!!

LOL. Man, I wish I could have seen the look on that man's face.

YES!!! Oh man, recently, someone walked past me and I swear I got so nostalgic I started to weep. It was the smell from Childhood! I cant explain it. I smelt that exact same smell when I was a child back in Nigeria so I guess smelling it again kinda brought back all this suppressed emotions and I lost it.

I have lots.

Usually foods and perfume. Food always reminds me with my Grandma's cooking!

Calvin Klein Eternity reminds me with Junior High friends. Oh I miss them so much.

i always remember things with smell.

a certain lipgloss takes me back to 10 years ago when i bought it.

my boyfriends cologne reminds me of him

jasmines remind me of my grandmothers house when i was younger

strong cleaning chemicals remind me of my preschool!

The Colorado River has its own scent just as evening hits you can smell the damp earth and vegetation. Whenever I small that damp earth smell, I am immediately transported back to the river...even if only in my mind.

Jergens hand lotion reminds me of my great grandmother. A lot of things remind me of her.

There is some healing garden shampoo (the yellow one) reminds me of my freshman year in high school

The smell of paint reminds me of moving and really depresses me.

The smell of mothballs reminds me of my boyfriend. When he was going to college out of town we would hang out when he came home for the weekend. His room always smelled like mothballs because he had been gone all week.

The smell of a room cleaned with javex, reminds me of a resort we used to stay at....I associate the javex with the chlorine smell of the HUGE pool.

Yes. Certain candles from Pier One remind me of my grandma. There are many more. I have a very sensitive nose so I pick up everything.

Oh, great thread! Here are some of mine; I'm sure I'll think of others after I post:

raspberry Kool-Aid takes me back to childhood summer days

Old Spice immediately makes me think of my late father

real grapes reminds me of picking grapes with my parents and then my Mom would make & can grape jelly

charcoal takes me back to my Dad grilling burgers, and also sometimes Girl Scout camping trips

egg nog is like Christmas morning opening stockings (that's why it's my favorite Philosophy body wash!)

violets remind me of my college days because I was a sorority girl and one of my big sisters gave me a bottle of violet cologne (our sorority flower) -- to this day I love violet-scented things!

Downy takes me back to childhood and freshly-dried sheets & towels after a hot bath

Oh, I agree on the new crayon smell....it's the first day of school all over again!

Smells can trigger bad memories too, unfortunately; the smell of smoke (not just wood smoke, but the certain smell of burning building materials which goes beyond wood smoke smell) makes me freeze with terror because I remember our apartment fire in 1999 and escaping from a burning building. But we survived and things are good, so I don't dwell on that anymore.

Someone else keep this thread going!

mmm..the smell of pumpkin...especially pumpkin or spice like perfumes or colognes (they tend to pop out during the fall season) reminds me of family get togethers for thanksgiving and christmases with all my aunts, uncles and cousins.

I love the smell of my pillow. It has a musky, relaxing kind of smell that lulls me to sleep.

the smell of ivory soap reminds me of my bobcha [grandma]. just for the record she is still alive. but everytime i use it or smell it it reminds me of her. she always has ivory soap at her house and always has ever since i was little. thats all she uses.

theres certain colognes or perfumes that make me think of certain people but i could make a list a mile long of that.
