To begin with, Retin A can be prescribed for both acne control and for cosmetic reasons - wrinkles, discolouration, stretch marks etc.

So what experience are you specifically looking for?

I've been using it for about 25 years, initially to control acne and now to keep wrinkles at bay.

Retin A can be pricey in the US so I understand why folks buy less expensive over the counter products. In Canada, a tube goes for $20 and lasts several months.

Over the counter retinol products can carry a Tretinoin strength (Retin A's active ingredient) of 1% to 2%. However, you need a prescription to go stronger than 2%.

The bottom line for me is that it works and I strongly recommend it.

I've been using it for about a year. I can't use it straight because it makes my skin red. I have to put my camelia oil underneath it and they just work wonderful together.

I've been applying a retina cream daily (only at nights) for almost two years now, and haven't noticed any adverse effects.

I did have some concerns about long-term use, but my dermatologist told me not to worry about it since retin-a had more pros than cons. She did say that daily use can cause dryness for some, but I've never experienced that.

I've been using it since 1996 or 1997. Love it. Takes getting used to, of course, learning how to manage peeling and such, but it is worth it. I'm almost 40, and I have no real lines. Most people think I'm in my 20s, and the last time I went to a casino, 2 years ago, I was carded and they didn't want to accept my photo id as authentic. I've worn SPF 30+ for all those years, and never tanned before/after, and I never smoked, so guess that helped a lot. My mother, who is 70 and a smoker, has had a lot of improvement in her skin since I started buying her those little wipes by Dr. Gross, so I think any kind of chemical exfoliation is a Godsend.

In my honest opinion, I do not think its for daily use. I have average skin, few problem areas and am not sensitive to most products. I purchased a tretin - a cream off amazon for $20 bucks and smeared it on when I first got it. This caused intense pealing to the point where it was embarrassing to go out. I stopped using it and began using African black soap morning and night as a face wash and now only use the trentin a as a spot treatment. It works really well that way and usually clears up any spot within two nights use. Black soap is full of vitamins and clears up acne, scarring, discoloration and wrinkles really well if you put it on a wash cloth and scrub with it. That stuff is amazing.
