I was looking at a skincare sample in a magazine that claimed to have some exotic-sounding essential oils--but when I read the ingredients list, it was mostly your typical water, alcohol, glycol, glycerin, etc. which made me realize--if the ad was boasting about the nutritive/anti-aging/moisturizing properties of the essential oils, why not get the oils themselves?

I'm curious if any of you make your own skincare products, and if so, what do you use? I made a spur-of-the-moment purchase and got some avocado oil, but so far it's made my dry skin infinitely drier lol. now I'm wondering if I should go back to my synthetic skincare; I mean after all, those oils were not created specifically for human skin :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />.

Pure jojoba oil is FANTASTIC!!

Jojoba most closely resembles the skins natural sebum. A few drops on damp hands will moisten your whole face.

When my son had teen acne, he tried some of that Proactive stuff, and his face turned red and dry and irritated. So I gave him some jojoba oil, and it calmed his skin down literally overnight.

He just made it his routine then, to apply it after the acne treatment.

I still us it, with a little Hyalauronic Acid as an undereye treatment, and added to any face moisturizer.

Jojoba oil, coconut oil, and almond oil is grat for the skin.. I make my own products and heres one of them.

in a spray bottle I mix pure oil (coconut or jojoba, or oil) with rose water to make a "mystic spray", it smells good and softens and hydrates your skin. Is lightweight so it will absorb by the skin quick.

Yes, I am used to with Lavender oil, Peppermint oil, jojoba oil, Tee Tree oil....You can buy all these essential oils online or from Body shop outlet.

Tea Tree oil has anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s well-known for curing bacterial and viral infections of the face and mouth, including sore throats, earaches, and acne & blemishes, and works exceptionally well treating oily skin.

I use camelia oil (Silkia brand) everyday. Sometimes I also use rosehip oil. This camelia oil has worked miracles for my wrinkles and indented acne scars. I used it with Epidermx II microdermrbrastion cream. The microderm cream is also great for blackheads, whiteheads, blemishes, and brightening and evening skin tone. They saved my skin.

Its absolutely true that some essential oil manufacturer use the chemicals in the manufacturing process of natural essential oils. But, there are also a number of pure essential oil manufacturer available that use the traditional method for the manufacturing of essential oils. Their oils are hundred percent free from the added chemicals and other harmful compounds. It is important to understand that pure essential oils are not made to apply directly on human skin. It should be used in diluted form with any carrier oil or base oil to avoid skin irritation.......

I use Tea Tree oil to treat acne (this stuff is amazing for acne btw), jojoba oil and lavender oil. I also use pure Argan oil a lot, but I'm thinking that might not be an essential oil.
