So, I was wondering.

Does your job enable you to wear wild colored eye shadow or lip colors?

I ask this because at the Clothing Boutique I work at my manager likes us to wear very natural looking makeup and won't allow us to wear green, or blue or any super colorful eye shadows, same in the lipstick, pink is out of the question! I don't mind wearing natural looking makeup cause I personally prefer it, but a couple of the girls I work with really hate this rule!

wow........I din't think they had the right to do that.

you'd think in a fashion boutique they'd want fashion forward gals working there!!

Makeup could very well fall under the dress code. If the dress code says no colorful makeup, then they have to follow that.

I'm wearing bright green eyeshadow today! lol. But I work for my parents (and I'm still attending University).

I'm going to be a teacher, and generally they prefer we wear neutral colors (in clothing and makeup) so as not to distract the students. lol!

I am a librarian so..yes. As long as everything you have on you is presentable, then they have no qualms with you. However, you cant wear flip flops to work.

Well, when I first started my job, they had certain restrictions on my nail length, but makeup wise not really. I would love to more often, but it is not an everyday thing for me. I do the natural thing more.

I work for the Government in a very professional office. I wouldn't dream of coming to work in blue or green eyeshadow !!

I have worked in many formal environments. I knew how too push the limits without going over the top.

Not really - i can go to the Uni wearing a bright green, but here in Brazil it's not very common unless it's night time - also, i'm on the health field, so many patients still expect conservative doctors .

I'm a nurse and while I love beautiful eyeshadow colors, I would not wear them to work. I don't think it looks professional. I hate to see nurses with long funky acrylic nails too.

That is surprising, considering it's a fashion boutique! Oh well, save your racy looks for evening , I guess =)

I work in a lab and I can wear pretty much whatever makeup I like as long as I keep it reasonable. I don't wear anything as bright as when I go for a night out but I can still have fun with my makeup for work.

i don't necessarily have any restrictions at work but it is obvious that you don't see many people in insurance with pink mouths and bright blue eyeshadows. i think it falls under the dress code or something.
