I want to dye my coppery red hair a medium/dark auburn. I have used Ultress and Feria before, but this time, I thought I might try going to Sally's Beauty Supply store and buying the stuff there and mixing my own formula. Has anyone tried this before? Any experiences (good or bad) would be helpful. Thanks!

They should be able to help you with the mix and the color

Any experiences (good or bad) would be helpful. Thanks! Just an FWI about Sally's most of the people that work there are not licensed to do hair. Some do know what they are talking about though. Just be cautious! It would be very wise though to talk with a hairdresser on the steps that you would need to take though, just to make sure you do everything right.

Thanks to both of you. I went to my stylist, and after talking to me about it, we decided it would be best for her to do my hair. After double processing my hair and deep conditioning it, I'm quite happy with the color. I went from a light coppery color to a deep warm auburn color. I'll try to post before/after pictures tomorrow.

Thanks again ladies!!

Burnished red fireworks set this smooth rounded cut ablaze.

That's Modern.

</TD><TD vAlign=top width=360>What is Modern?
The Modern technique creates a simple-yet-sophisticated style crowned with radiant red color in varied tones. It is an excellent look for any client with Natural Level 3 - 5 haircolor.

What product should you use?

Use Complements Permanent Gel Color and Clairol Professional developer, volumes 30 and 20.

Here are the pictures

OLD: sorry it's my wedding pic.. I can't seem to find any other pics that show my coppery/red hair color

NEW: a medium auburn color--less coppery.

i think it looks really nice. just a little darker and less coppery. it was a nice color before too, but it is always nice to have a change, and this is a nice one.

p.s. - such a cute wedding picture! you guys both look really happy!

wow I love the hair color!! it looks so good did you do it yourself or did you have a stylist do it? I buy my hair dye at the Sally Beauty supply store and my mom does it. I love that place! My hair doesnt fade fast like wal mart stuff, its b/c of the developer you use with the dyes at the sally store. I love the color it looks great!

Adorable pics Brelki!!!

Your hair looks great! Same tones, just less copper and a little more 'oomph' - nice job!

I was going to try to do it myself, but I was worried about it ending up really brassy (as my hair usually does).
