EXCLUSIVE: Britney's Gonna be in a Movie, Y'all!
Posted Sat. Dec. 22, 2007 7:06pm by Jana Winter Filed Under Britney Spears
Looks like Britney Spears has figured out a way to steal the spotlight back from her pregnant little sister, Jamie Lynn. The pop tard is in talks to star in an upcoming film, Memoirs of a Medicated Child. And she likely will be able to draw from some of her own life experiences, including her recent courtroom dramas and family infighting, for her role as the loyal girlfriend of a misdiagnosed mental patient.
"As far as Britney's concerned, we're talking," Tommy Parker, CEO of 2 Guys and a Dream Films as well as the director and producer of the flick -- and boyfriend of Playmate Heather Elizabeth -- confirmed to PageSix.com exclusively. He is in final negotiations with Britney, he divulged.
But other insiders reveal that Brit's a done deal. "A letter of intent from Britney was received very recently," a second source tells PageSix.com. "Lindsay Lohan was originally offered the part because they thought she'd be a better actor, but they changed their mind and wanted Britney instead."
Why Britney? "They think she'd be better in the role," adds the source. The film is based on the true story of Mark Black, a man who was wrongfully dosed, imprisoned and then saved by John Gotti (seriously). Brit will star opposite Ross Tyler, who is playing the title character, Mark Black, according to the insider. Peter Iacanagelo will star as John Gotti, while fellow train wreck Andy **** will join Brit Brit in the biopic.
"I think it's pretty unbelievable considering what the script is about
-- prescription drug use, ADHD meds, and all that -- considering what Britney's been through," said the source. "Everyone's very excited to have her join the cast."
The film, Britney's first since her poor debut in 2002's Crossroads, starts shooting in late January or early February in Tulsa, Okla. And for up to as many as six weeks, Britney will be on location, which could pose a serious problem for her ongoing custody battle.
"She can't miss any more court dates or drug tests," a Federline family insider told PageSix.com. "Kevin is reluctantly willing to let Britney travel a bit with the kids, as long as she doesn't leave the country and the trip is short -- and important."
Let's just hope her visit to the Panhandle doesn't give her any more material to draw from for her character.
