i just used an eye lash curler that i had sitting around for the first time yesterday. i thought it would make my lashes stand out more and i had never tried it before. it worked decently, nothing over the top amazing though. (i should add that it is one from target, sonia kashuk perhaps?) anywho, i used it again today and it stole two of my precious lashes away from me! :[ needless to say, i did not do the other eye. at times, my lashes were stuck to the darn thing. that being said, i don't know exactly know how to use it... before mascara? after mascara? between two coats of mascara? can someone explain the correct way to use one? or are they just too agressive for some people?

yep, before mascara and clean it prior to use so any oil or makeup that may be on it is removed. be careful not to pull or tug on your lashes. clamp at the base of your lashes and gently hold or pulse for ~10 seconds. i sort of bend the curler up to get even more curl. after 10 seconds i release and move the curler up my lashes a bit and repeat those things. and just do that up the length of my lashes.

the heated ones i have used are used a little differently. the one i have is a wand. no clamping required. with this one you apply your mascara first, then use your heated curler by pressing up at the base of your lashes and hold. move it up the lashes and hold. repeat until finished.

your lashes may already be curled enough on their own...

I've never had a problem using them.. And unless your eyelashes are very thin a, loosing a couple doesn't sound that bad. I have use the L'oreal self curling mascara for a while and it does a decent job of curling my lashes.. Not as good as the mechanical curler but better that standard mascara.. Might be an option you could consider...

yes that happened to me too. I curled my lashes and I saw that I lost 2 too. I was mad. But I still use the curler, not every day though. What can you do if our lashes are fragile. Probably pulled the curler out too harshly and it pulled the lashes out.

well eyelashes fall out anyway, like any other hair on your body. They grow back, so no big deal. You might not want to squeeze the curler so hard next time.

thanks for the replys! i think i went wrong when i tried to curl after i had put mascara on, as someone pointed out i think. obviously, while the mascara is drying, it will cause your lashes to adhere to the dang curler... makes sense :] i will probably try it again today. if it doesn't work out i can always go back to my mascara only routine... or pluck them all out in frustration! lol... i would never.

this is off topic but... seeing as i pulled out two of my lashes (and get quite sad whenever they randomly fall out), is there something for them that can keep them healthy, or even possibly, something that can make them grow longer or more abundantly?! i've always wondered. i heard castor oil helps? xxx

use one before mascara, and you dont need to press hard! slight pressure does the trick just fine.
