Here are some of the new shows for the Fall 2005 season. Some look rather interesting.

September 4 - September 10

Premiere: Thursday, Sept. 8, 9 pm/ET, Fox

One of six childhood friends (Will Estes, Chyler Leigh and Amanda Righetti, among others) has been murdered. As a detective (Mathew St. Patrick of Six Feet Under) investigates, the trail takes him back 20 years to the friends' 1986 high-school graduation. Each episode is a flashback to a pivotal point in a different year. The story advances year by year, week by week, until we learn whodunit.

Dave (Michael Rapaport) and Vicky (Anita Barone) are in a parent trap, contending with three screaming teens: a sexually rebellious daughter (Kaylee DeFer) and two sons, one of ambiguous sexuality (Kyle Sullivan) and one (Dean Collins) who's going through puberty. Expect to see caustic confessionals, spoken to the camera, to express what's going on in everyone's agitated mind.

Give this gal some bones and she'll solve your crime. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is a forensic anthropologist and part-time crime novelist (the character's based on best-selling author Kathy Reichs). With help from fellow lab geniuses, she unearths evidence from even the most decomposed or damaged remains. FBI guy Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) often enlists her aid, although he's no fan of science-geek "squints."Headstrong Dr. Brennan ("Don't call me Bones!") insists on joining Booth in the field, but she's a lot less adept with the living than the dead.

Their ultimate goal: tracking down the evil force that destroyed their mother when they were kids and may have caused the recent disappearance of their demon-fighting dad.

The parents want to turn the business over to their daughters. Can the sisters stop the sniping long enough to make it work?

She assembles a team of eccentric geniuses (Brent Spiner, Peter Dinklage, Rob Benedict) to investigate. "Not exactly Charlie's Angels, are they?" quips their covert-ops escort (Brian Van Holt). What they see, even on video, makes their noses and ears bleed and invades their nightmares, maybe even their DNA.

And Ben is caught between his divorced parents — a strident cardiologist mother (Stockard Channing) and a mild-mannered gastroenterologist dad (Henry Winkler) who has taken up with his receptionist (Jennifer Tilly).

With a dimwit brother (Ethan Suplee) and other lowlifes as company, Earl pledges to right all of his past wrongs.

Both work in the Pentagon Building's outer "E-Ring," where all the critical decisions are made and both are at war with the Defense Department's bureaucracy.

Most desperate of all is Argentinian receptionist Viviana (Ion Overman), who needs a husband so she can score a green card.

Team leader Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) is coming off a six-month sabbatical to relieve post-traumatic stress, and some wonder if he's as unstable as the fiends they're pursuing. (After its premiere, the show will air Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET.)

Hale is still mourning the death of his female partner, who was killed in the line of duty. His self-imposed hiatus may have included a stay in a mental institution.
