I've been ignoring my cosmetics for awhile. I test out my perfumes and skin care items religiously but I have been avoiding using any cosmetics. Why? Mostly because I've been dealing with a pretty strong case of self hate. I think I have a horrible looking face and putting make up on it, to me, was the same as putting a tutu on a pig. Just doesn't go but it's my face. I have to deal with it until I win the lottery and can do a complete overhaul.

So until that happens,  I am making a challenge to myself to do at least 2 make up looks a week. Nothing over the top, just something simple to put on before running out the door. To start off, I used Jouer luminizing moisture tint in bronze. It was very easy to work with, absorbed into my skin quickly and best of all, I simply don't feel it. There isn't a heavy coverage, just a light coverage to even out my skin tone.

The eye shadow is from a drug store compact that I ended up not really liking. I really had to build up to this level of color, it was very difficult to work with overall. But I used a maroon as an overall lid color with a lilac along the crease and blended it in. To deepen the look, I took some black eye shadow and dabbed that into the outer vee and into the crease. I really had to work at the blending. Once the shadow was on my skin, it didn't really want to budge.

I used CoverGirl exact eyebright in black to line my waterline, being very careful not to lay it on too thick. I didn't want a heavy line, just enough to define my upper eyelid. Maybeliene Falseies Volume Mascara finished off the look. I really didn't want much in the way of lipstick so I put on a simple lip balm and voila, all done.

Here you can really see how badly the blending didn't work out. I tried a variety of brushes as well as my finger before I even got this much. Thankfully you don't really notice it when my eyes are open.

Aww you poor thing, you are beautiful! Get rid of the self hate by faking it until you feel it. I hate days like those where not even makeup cheers me up. I've been in a funk myself and just recently started getting back in the routine even though I'm not that into it either. Very lovely look, it suits you

@ Pancua: Are you kidding me? You're beautiful.  Honestly, you are...  Try not to be negative towards yourself, be positive and confident, because that will show, and that will make you even more beautiful than what you already are.  You look pretty with or without makeup.

Also, I Love Love Love your eyes by the way. d;:

They're such a gorgeous shade of brown.

I've been going with a lot of neutral looks lately so I decided to bust out some of my favorite Urban Decay colors!

Thanks ladies, you are all very sweet. I am trying to move past it, some days are better than others. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Pancua - that was hard to read. You are beautiful, you've got great skin, lovely eyes. I know its hard when you don't feel that. Everyone can say whatever they want, but if you don't feel it, it doesn't matter. Try to look at yourself (face) and pick out a feature you do like, and play that up. *Hugs*

Fairest - I like that purple shadow! and those Revlon lip stains look great on you!!!

It's personal choice, of course, but I personally hope you never change your face (in the sense of plastic surgery). I think your features could pull off such a variety of makeup looks. Some people only do well with one or the other--natural or dramatic--but your face could do either. I would love to see you in a variety of styles. Also, I think that your insecurities could actually make your blog very relatable to a lot of us who don't think much of ourselves.

@Pancua ...As someone who feels like you do sometimes I can sympathize. Feeling poorly about yourself is exhausting. The thing is I guess I don't see what you do, you look like a beautiful woman to me. If you are feeling down try to think of yourself as a fresh canvas. Working on your daytime face will help you get more used to applying stuff since daytime makeup is usually a bit more natural. My sister has very similar skin tone and hair color to you and she pulls off some bold makeup. Having dark curly hair with light skin just screams deep red lipstick to me. Some bold smokey eye would look fantastic on your pretty dark eyes. Either way, makeup or not, we are all here to support you :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

@Fairest...I really like the purple on your eyes. It brings out the green a lot. I'm still drooling over that lip stain too. *note to self: go buy some* lol
