Hi, I recently bought a set of ceramic hair straighteners even though i have long straight hair, with a slight wave in it. I know that straighteners can be used to create curls and flicks in the hair. Can you give me some tips on how to make the most of them? Should i be using some kind of protectant on my hair too? Thanks for any advice.

Hey Candy! Well, you did the right thing by buying a ceramic iron, but you should still also use a heat protecting spray when you use it. It helps a lot with damage control.

I'm not sure if they have Sally stores by you.. but they carry a brand called ION - who makes a good spray... and they also have another brand.. which unfortunatly, I can't think of the name - that is specifically for irons... I believe it's a red bottle with a picture of a straightener on it.

some others you might wanna try...

You can also just go to your local beauty supply - see what other brands they carry. Most salon quality brands have a protectant spray in their line.

Candy, i've been using my ceramic straightener for the past year & LOVE it. I've never tried using it for anything else other than straightening it though. Gonna check out that link that NYAngel posted (thanks girlie!) Anyhow, i've recently discovered a fantastic product to use before using the straightener. Its Heat Defence Styling Spray by TRESemme. Its in a black bottle. Supposedly all the hair salons in the UK & Ireland use their products. I cant remember the price but i would recommend it 100%
