my baby is almost 2 and has really curly coarse hair.. whats are some good products to help fizz and is safe for kids??

Have you tried any oils you might have around the house - coconut, olive, almond? Any oil from a nut should be ok as long as there is no reaction/allergy.

Try a small drop massaged into your hands, then rub his/her hair. You want to be careful not to saturate the hair, just lightly coat it.

I don't know if a silicon serum would be ok - you could always phone the company/ies and ask them what they recommend. I like Got2b and Garnier serums for myself but again, check with companies.

Jojoba would very likely work well. It's very similar to the skin's natural sebum, so it wouldn't clog his hair follicles or cause itching or cradle-cap type flaking. I'm sure coconut oil could work really well too, as mentioned by Brittney. As well as the oils Dragonfly posted about. Avocado oil is also really nice on the hair. If none of those are sufficiently effective - they're thinner oils - you could try Jamaican black castor oil. I bought an 8oz bottle on Amazon a while back & have been using it on my own hair ever since. It's much thicker & viscous. So it might be more effective on your baby's hair if the others aren't. Even on my hair, which isn't coarse at all, it works really well between shampoos. I use a little bit every day to condition & keep my hair shiny & tangle free. Then once a week, the night before I'm going to shampoo my hair, I put a lot in, massage it into my scalp & leave it overnight. To get it out the next day, I use a really gentle sulfate free shampoo. Then I condition after washing. Lastly I will sometimes blow dry my hair after rubbing a little bit of castor oil on my hands & distributing it through my hair. If I don't blow dry, I use a little bit less. It leaves the hair very soft, easy to comb through, & very healthy. It also doesn't have a strong natural smell to it at all. It's not expensive either. If you're using shampoo like Johnson's baby shampoo or something similar, that's guaranteed to have sulfates in it. They really strip & damage the hair, making it even more difficult to deal with hard to manage hair. I'd actually suggest finding somebody local to you who makes soaps because they can make super fatted shampoo bars specifically for your baby. that are free of synthetic fragrances & other potential chemical irritants. Shampoo bars are really gentle on the hair. Especially important for hair that's already very difficult to comb through or to tame its frizziness. I definitely wouldn't use anything with silicone in it, though. That could cause an allergic reaction, buildup on the hair & scalp etc. I also don't believe for a minute that the companies which make antifrizz serums & other silicone based products would be very honest. After all, this is not their child. So they're unlikely to have much concern regarding the health of your child. They're just concerned with making money. Anyways, good luck. You can PM me if you'd like anymore info or if you have any questions :)

This is also a good point, and something I forgot to mention. I use sulfate free argan oil shampoo and conditioner for my kiddo :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Try using a Boars Hair brush. It works really well to smooth the hair shaft and calm frizz without any hair products at all.
