Hi everybody,

First I want to introduce myself, my name is Terri before we start anything. Ok, I am naturally a VERY dark brown with lots of red hi lights, I have went blonde two times already, this will be my third.

All these times, I have went to a salon, for reference. The first two times, I would get dark reddish brown hair because my dresser was too afraid to bleach my head. So we did lots of foils and hi lighting cap, and it came out a pretty dark blonde.

Then, it was turning ugly and I couldn't really maintain it, so I went dark again. Then the cycle repeated one more time.

NOW, recently I put in a light ash brown from the box and it turned my hair black. I absolutely hated it so yesterday I went to a different salon and they basically foiled and bleached my whole head a six hour process.

My hair turned SUPER light (even though they said they couldnt bring it back light) and I spent an INSANE amount of money and too be honest I look like tweety bird.

What I want to know is from here, what is my next step. I don't want to go back there, but at the same time I am very unhappy with my hair, Since it was done just yesterday is it too early to use a toning shampoo? And if not, what is the best one for me to use? Or is my best alternative is to just put a dye over my hair while it is this light? How can I get rid of this super yellow-ness!

I am willing to post pictures if needed, but please need some guidance!!

My natural hair is pretty much black its an extremely dark chocolate color and has the naturally reddish high lights in it also. When I bleach it blonde it turns to a very light blonde mixed with a golden yellow color. What I normally do is deep condition it 2 or 3 times while waiting a few days then dye it a blonde color that I like. I stay away from the "ash" colors though because I have had nothing but trouble with those. I don't really use a toner so I'm no help there but I've heard that purple shampoos and conditioners get rid of the brassy tones .

I really wish I could help you I was in the same boat but I foolishly dyed my very light blonde hair, fushia and agua blue. I tried every home remedy and nothing. Called the salon and they gave me a tentative quote of $200.00. and no guarantee they could do it without damaging my hair. Contacted the company who made the colors and they said that my hair must have absorbed the color and I have few options. I could cut my hair off and umm no that's not gonna happen it's half way down my back. I could let it grow out but that's not gonna happen. My only real option was to dye it a dark auburn and so I did. I hate looking in the mirror now it just upsets me. I would strongly suggest you try to give your hair a little while before you do anything else to it. But maybe one of the other woman here can give you some better information then I can. Good luck.

Thanks for the opinions, now my next question is

can i put a box dye over my hair?

my hair has been color corrected. Yes there is bleach but its not orangy uneven bleached hair.

?

Go back to the salon, and have them treat it with toner.  Tell them you don't mind if it's a little violety, because the purple will eventually wash out.  I've gone back for a re-do in the past, and I think it's your best bet.  They have access to the salon-grade products and you won't be out any additional $.

^ Honestly, I can't afford that after how much I just spent to get this tweety bird hair.

and btw, they DID put toners in my hair after they bleached it so this is the result AFTER the toner

Here is a suggestion from a former Aveda salon stylist.  Aveda makes a Color Clove conditioner that is very thick and moisturizing and will even out your color without making it brown despite what the color on the bottle says. Placed over blonde hair it tones the brassiness and smells great.  It costs about $20.00 and won't fry your hair like putting another color over the top would.  If there is an Aveda salon near you you could purchase this there or online.  Read the reviews and good luck.

Garn, they shouldn't charge you for a redo.  I have platinum blonde hair, and do my roots every 4 weeks.  My natural color is between a 5 & a 6, which is pretty dark.  When I have my first treatment (bleach), my hair comes out tweety bird yellow, or an egg yolk yellow.  The toner is what turns it white.  I sometimes have them leave it on extra long which leaves me with a lavender-hue.

You can use Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner. They sell it at Sally Beauty for around $8.00 each (http://www.sallybeauty.com/blonde-shampoo/CLAIRL3,default,pd.html) and I suppose you could get it on Amazon as well. The shampoo/conditioner is a deep violet and it takes the yellow out. I have used it before and it does work, though your hair can be twinged violet after using it either by leaving it on too long, or just because your hair so porous from being bleached. I found great toning results leaving it on for no more than 30 seconds. It's worth a shot!

I would definitely contact the salon first and tell them that you are not happy with your hair. See if there is anything at all they can do to help you, if not ask for the salon manager and explain the situation. Ask them exactly what they used on your hair and what process they did it in.  They are supposed to be experts in the field, that's why you pay them a lot of money to do it for you! If there is nothing they can do, ask them about a refund or explain that you want to refer them to the BBB because they are no willing to work with you. Please if anything, don't ask the people at Sally's. Go to a different reputable salon and ask them their opinion. Explain what happened at the first salon and see what they think. Sorry, but I didn't go to school for this and I don't want to give you any bad advice! I hope it works out though, keep us posted!
