I need help writing an introduction like I'm introducing myself to an employer. Its for my Job Preparation class. please give me some examples to get me started. here is what I need in the introduction.

Introduction: introduce yourself (include your name) and your strengths. Mention your target job

Main body: limit yourself to about 3 points in the middle which link your strengths to your target employer's want.

Conclusion: Show a positive interest in the target job.

Your strengths (skills & qualities): Give examples or experiences as EVIDENCE.

Target Employer's Wants (Needs & expectations): know what your target is looking for!

edit: the introduction has to be 1 minute long. its like we're meeting the employer and introducing ourselves while they look over the resume.

This is my husband's most recent cover letter. it basically goes through your whole pentad layout.

hope it helps!

In response to your advertisement in the Tri-Valley Herald regarding the Field Supervisor position, I am attaching a PDF of my resume and a list of references for your review. After reading the job description, I am sure you will find my background and experience relevant to your needs.

Over the last 3 ½ years, I have been running my own successful remodeling company called Blaze’s Home Solutions. As all my business is referral based, I assure meticulous and dedicated service to all existing and potential clients. As a business owner, I have a complete understanding of time management and budgeting.

This last year I had the opportunity to volunteer part of my services as the lead carpenter for the opening of Room to Grow, a parent participation preschool that teaches parents about early learning and child development as well as allowing children to develop strong academic and social foundations. This experience gave me the encouragement to think outside the box for solutions that would be creative, safe, and within the budget restrictions allowed.

I have a tireless work ethic and a determined passion for my trade. I am looking to move forward within my line of work, and feel that your company would be a great stepping stone to my future endeavors.

I am confident my knowledge of construction and building maintenance and regulations would make me an excellent addition to your team.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Blaze Dean Smith

thanks so much. your husband's cover letter is a great help and it will also help me in my writing a cover letter. that's one thing the class has to do but we don't have to start writing it yet.

i worked a loooong time doing HR so i did a fair share of reading letters and looking at resumes. so you learn to sift through stuff and know what you want to read.

it's all about stating that you are perfect, why you are perfect, examples of how perfect you are, how you are striving to be even more perfect, and thats why you are writing the letter, hehehe

thinking about it now, though, the only thing i wish it would have stated, was that he would love to discuss in person how he could benefit the company, and leave out "consideration" at the end of his closing line.

i am a big believer that supervisors should act as such from the beginning.

when i go and meet the employer, how should i introduce myself? thats what i have to do for my 1 minute commercial. i have to introduce myself to the employer in 1 minute.

oh!

number one-

Straight in the eye, shake, smile...

and here is a sample intro (i gave you a few different fill in the blank scenarios)

My name is XXX, and thank you for meeting with me today, i am really excited to talk to you about the XXX positon.

I have been a student / have been training / have been working in this field for quite some time and i feel incredibly strong about my abilities to perform well in customer service / hospitality / project management.

I work well with people on all levels, i am very detail oriented, and most of all, i have a very strong work ethic that drives me to be the best at whatever i do.

This last year I wrote a paper / worked an internship / cross trained in another department, and, although it was challenging, I got top marks for my studies / an offer for a full time job in one of their satellite companies / got Employee of the Month.

The experience really broadened my thought process and motivated me to move forward in my career.

I know that you are looking for someone who can work independently / work in large groups / is able to multi task several projects at once, an attribute that i take great pride in, and lets me know that i would be a great asset to your company.

now thats really helpful. i can never say something like that. i'm still new to this job scene. i only have two jobs in my life and nothing is like what i'm doing now for my class.

edit: here is what i got so far. what do you think of it? i'm still working on it. its not due until Halloween.

Good morning! My name is xxx. I applied for the Office Clerk/Clerical Assistant position. I'm a student going to school to pursue a certificate in Clerical Assistant/Office Support.

can you do another one like if you apply for an office job. i need an example on the field job that i am looking for. thanks so much.

is anyone else going to help me with this?
