I'm using acupuncture to treat my chronic insomnia. And it is working really REALLY well. Almost a little too well. I'm so sleepy, but it feels so good to be able to sleep. Maybe my dark circles will go away soon too. I think I'm going to take a quick nap before dinner.

Wow!! Glad to hear the acupuncture is working for you. WAKE UP!!! LOL just kidding!!

I actually am convinced that I have the opposite problem. I fall asleep ALL THE TIME if I am not active. Its a witch when I'm at work. I have fallen asleep at my desk numerous times and I'm convinced that I'm gonna get fired over it (seriously). I've always thought narcolepsy was a joke, but I really believe that I have it. If ever I'm not active, you can count on me falling asleep no matter where I am.

Oh wow, are you sure you're sleeping well at night?? Have you talked to a doctor about it? Wouldn't want you to fall asleep in the car!

I havent talked to a Dr because I didnt want him to think that I was crazy or anything like that. What I decided to do before contacting a Dr was to read up on it as much as I can. I did find a few articles and some of them described me to a T! I also found that this is more common than I realized and there is medication that can help. Now that I know I'm not crazy I'm gonna call and see if the doctor will discuss this with me. *crossing fingers*

Good good. And if the doctor thinks you're crazy go to an acupuncturist!

I'll def use an acupuncturist as a backup plan!! I'll do anything to conquer this problem. It scares me sometimes!!!

Are you getting a good sleep at night? Do you toss n' turn? Do you not get into a deep "REM" sleep? That could effect how you feel during the day -

Usually you wouldn't even know it, but a sleep specialist or Dr. can maybe monitor your sleep patterns, check for sleep apnea, stress related issues or see if you do have some form of narcolepsy. You might just need a new matress!

I sleep pretty well at nite so I dont think that causes it. I also considered it might be from an iron deficiency, but I upped the dosage on my daily vits a few months ago and the problem persists. I'll def consider the other things you mentioned. I'm open to any/all suggestions. I'm also gonna see if the dr will see me tomorrow or at least soonest cuz this is really a pain to deal with.

It can be really hard to diagnose sleep problems sometimes - my friend was like you... but she went to the dr. and although she thought she got a good sleep, it actually showed in the monitoring that she had a lot of 'brain activity' when she should've been in an REM sleep. It's like even though physically she was asleep, her mind wasn't... and that kept her from getting into a deep sleep. So even though she 'slept'... she really wasn't. He told her a list of reasons that this would happen. Anyhoo, he gave her a mild sleeping pill to use for awhile - It 'relaxed' her mind so that her body could recharge. Although she never had problems falling asleep at night - they made a huge difference. It pretty much just sedated ALL of her when she was asleep. Very weird!

Wow! Really? That's something! Its also a very reasonable possibility. Thanks for sharing that Janelle. I never knew that could happen.

I don't think she did either!!! lol But she started a new job, and I guess that plus stress... her brain was a tad overworked and 'nervous'! lol

I used melatonin every night for YEARS. Seriously, too long. Valerian too. But acupuncture seems to have cured it. Now I can fall asleep naturally without depending on a pill or supplement. It was great stuff though for occasional sleeplessness or jet lag.

My boyfriend has really bad sleeping problems..he can't go to bed until 2 or 3 a.m! He has been like this all his life..he has taken medication but after a while they didn't do much! I want to know more acupuncture? I hear it's expensive..
