Is a perm for me?

Hi! I'm thinking about getting some kind of loose perm. I have really thick, wavy dark brown hair. It doesn't have any body or volume though. The last time I dyed my hair was about a month ago, when I do my hair I curl it with a straightner (large curls) and takes at least 40 minutes. I really don't know much about perms in general, any advice or comments? Thanks!

Before you try a perm, I recommend checking out the devacurl line, which is specifically made to bring out the best in your waves or curls.
