I've been taken for a thief!

i went this afternoon at the healthfood store near my house, hoping i could find some food supplement. as soon as i enter the shop, i notice there's nobody in it, and the only salespeople inside, is a woman in the back. well, as soon as she sees me, she gets behind me, frowns (imagine a small young face, but with asian eyes almost hidden by wrinkles,

) and gets closer. i hate feeling someone breathing in my back. i check some face moisturizers, just to see if they sell the brand i'm looking for, she's still behind me. then i turn and try to find something i'd like to take for my breakfast. she still follows me, pretends to arrange something, then go to the back of the shop(don't know what was so interesting behind, surveillance cams? weed?

). at this point i get the feeling i'm kinda not welcomed, like i was a thief. i admit for the price, it could be tempting. anyway, i put back my box of food supplements where i found it, and go outside, determined not to go again in this shop.

she sees me going out, and yells at me (i was already outside, in front of the door and she was still in the back) : miss, did you take it?

*this is where i think i would have probably shot her if i had a gun

i answer back : no madam, i'm no thief. and go away. and i don't care about the other client that was in the shop at that moment.

i was soooo pissed off

. because it's not like she's never seen me before. and i don't see what could be robbed in a shop like this (well you never know). maybe i should have reminded her some of the products just have to go to the garbage ? (would you buy a flour when it's indicated "best before july 2007"? i don't). and that the fact you have to order one week ahead just to get some tofu is completely stupid?

Aww sorry to hear that happened to you! She was probably paranoid from being the only person in the store.. Anyway it sounds like her shop is a bit crappy, I wouldn't return there.

how rude! there is a pharmacist in the mall near us that is exactly the same. They chase you around, even when I'm there with my mother, and I dont LOOK like a criminal, I mean well dressed and stuff, not that being poor should make a difference! but seriously, we dont go there any more because their prices are more expensive, they're rude, and I dont like being treated like a theif.

Aude, just on principal I would go to another health food shop if I were you from now on - if there is one close by. I dont think you should have to but why should they get your business when they're so rude?

yeah, i know some pharmacists like that too. guess what, i go to another pharmacy. here for all the basics when you don't need a prescription to get them, cough syrups, pain meds... they're free to put the price they want, that's how they make profit (in french law they're even considered as traders).
there is no healthfoodstore close apart from this one, i have to take the bus and go at a mall to find one or the underground, which is time consuming. it's ok, the first healthfood stores in France have several shops in the Paris area,they have more stuff anyway. they opened recently whole stores dedicated to beauty products

exactly i was just so pissed off. i wanted to punch her, anything so she could have some sense in her brain.

I would have gotten sooo pissed. I went in walmart one time just to look around didn't really have any money, and I was in there for like 15 minutes looking through the 5 dollar movie bin and stuff. When I walked out a woman litterally chased me out into the parking lot and demanded she check my pockets. I was like excuse me? And she made all these ridiculous accusations and was being a complete beyotch. I wanted to throw down in that parking lot lol.
