Heyy everyone ;
I'm entering a contest to win a scholarship
and I must write a Fashion Merchandising/Marketing plan.
I am unsure where to start and would be grateful for
any tips/suggestions you have. Please message me or
post a reply. Anything will do. Thank you for your time.
Take Care,
Michelle

Take care of the four (essential) P's:

Product, Price, Place, Promotion.

It would involve a Vision and Mission Statement. Your plan's SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). And the strategy for how you will be able to implement this plan.

I also recommend you try and grab some real life data (census reports or surveys of your marketshare are readily available online) - use those and you will be able to come up with something good if you pick a good market segment - VERY IMPORTANT!

For example:

Proposal: A line-of Make-up for men.

Product & Price: You or the company you work for is coming out with a new make-up brand targeted towards men. It will be close to high-end ($14-$50)

Place: Available through the internet & places like Hot Topic

Promotion: Rock/Punk/Emo Scene, Men's Magazines, Band representations, etc.

Your Vision and Mission: To provide a good quality make-up line that caters to men and their needs. etc etc.

Data that supports your product: You find some census/survey data that shows 40% of men in between the ages of 16-25 use some sort of make-up after following the rock/punk/emo music scene. (this is made-up ... you would want real data and cite your sources)

Strategy:

-coupons

-having FallOut Boy promote your products

-affiliations with Stores like Hot Topic

-club cards

-etc

Strengths: -untapped market with a huge following (market niche & possible first person advantage) -makeup on men is a lot more acceptable -not girly colors -etc

Weaknesses: -price -competition -possibility of failure if market doesnt bite

Opportunities: -looking into skin care products -possible outlets/free standing stores -etc

Threats: -competition -popularity of men wearing make-up could be a fad that goes away by the time you enter market -etc.

The order would be:

Vision/Mission

Proposal

Objectives

Market Summary

Strategy

SWOT

Summary (5-10 year plan!)

Conclusion

Appendix

Something like that.

Good Luck! And pardon the roughness of the post.
