The old landing was coming apart due to water which we solved a few years ago.... so demolished it and instead of a wooden platform with tile I poured a concres slab and plan to retile it. 20 - 80 l bags of sackcrette... 40 trips with a 5 gallon bucket, 3 total house this morning.. My son mixed the concrete in the drive and I hauled and poured it in the basement..... about 2,000 pounds total...

The old landing behind me..

Wow! You are a busy bee. It looks great! Please post more pics when completed. I like the color of the floor tiles below the landing. Someday I plan on redoing some of my floors and I like the warm colored tiles.

Thanks.... The neat thing was I pegged the estimate on sackrette.. and ended up with like a cup full to spare... She is still deciding on the tile... and I have to replace all the stair treads and risers with oak this fall.... We retiled the fireplace last winter (other end of the room) and I still have to build and install a new mantle... fun fun fun!!! I originally built the hearth and tiled the floor 20 years ago... so now were into remodeling what I already remdeled... sigh....

I got to cut them all, which when she laid them out on a 45 degree anle made the amount of cuts and the amount of work............ We used that spectra lock grout which will not stain... Also used it in the bathroom i redid last fall....

My list for home remodeling is a mile long.. Still want to paint the garage floors this fall.. And maybe an addition next spring.. Need a new roof which I love shingling... Did a french drain 2 years ago...

Last night Fred the cat decided to walk on the wet concrete.. So this morning there little cat tracks on it.. They will be covered by the new tile anyway.. And found an aditional benifit to this new slab.. The stair have become more solid overnight since I toed the slab into the bottom of the steps.. None of that slight bouncy feel... Should be able to take off the forms tonight and walk on it tommorow..

Karren,

Looks great! I can rewire almost anything, but can't do anything that needs to look nice. make sure you post the after pictures.

I should have the new tiles in 10 days... My wife and I spent all day Saturday looking at tile and shopping and she kept changing what she wanted.. Startes out making kind of a rug out of tile on the landing then maybe a starburst.. Ended up at Lowes and special ordered some 13 X 13 inch tiles that simulated 3 x 3 tiles and are multicolored and textured like slate.. In the browns and reds.. Looks neat but have to match the grout to the simulated grout on each tile... I'll post a few pics when I'm done..

Got the tile today and the cat just had to get in the photo... Now have to lay it and grout... Might be a little too redish.... and just noticed that the cat matches the floor pretty good!! lol
