My husband just recently told me about a big drug sting that happened here in town. There's a man who he knows through his second job - not well, mainly by name only. Anyway, this guy was recently busted with 2 oz. of cocaine. He's a dealer. He's since turned informant to the police. They've set him up to make buys with others in the area. My husband's second job is at the casino here in town, and the rumor is LOTS of people either dealing or doing hard drugs. There's even a rumor that there's been a hit put out on the guy who was first busted and turned snitch.

Now, this guy picks up kids at my daughter's school. I don't know if the boys are his sons or nephews, I just know they have the same last name.

I feel like I should say something to the principal. Because one, he's a drug dealer and he's on school property. And two, if he's actually got a hit out on him, I don't want some strung out freak doing something to him at the school, and putting all those kids in danger.

What should I do?

Hmmm...

From a legal standpoint concerning who can pick up a child, it all boils down to whether or not he is authorized to pick the child up from school. And if he is, there is nothing really more than you can do. Sorry I am sure that it is something that you may not want to hear.

On the other hand, what you can do is contact the police, and ask them about it......but I dont think they will tell you much more than I did. There are plently of convicted felons, drug dealers and drug addicts that pick up their kids from school everyday. You just lucked up on knowing one of a possible 25 or 30 depending on the size of the school. You would be surprised if you knew the criminal background of some of the people that come to pick up children everyday.

Just make sure to protect yours

I agree with Aprill...I'm not sure the principal or anyone can prevent him for picking up his nephews/sons.

You're both probably right. And Aprill849, you're right, I don't know what all those other parents, etc. at the school have going on in their home lives, and what kind of criminal pasts they may have. Which is a very scary thought!
