These days, sometimes I feel Oprah is steppin' off a little with some of her leisure-oriented topics. But today, I thought she had a very informative show. I didn't get to watch it, but I did go online to her website, and the interviewees were really candid about their experiences.

How Gays Fare Around the World

It's something that those of us who blend into the mainstream (heterosexual) don't often think about. It was brought to attention when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stunned Americans in September 2007 when he was interpreted to have said, "We don't have homosexuals like in your country. We do not have this phenomenon."

Now if people have opinions about the show, that's fine. But I don't intend for this thread to turn into arguments about ideology, let's play nice.

I didn't have time to have a look at the link, but I think it would be really interesting. I think it's sad that something that you cant necessarily help should cut you off so completely from the mainstream in some countries

This was a cool episode and I couldn't believe when the basket ball player said a women said to him "i didn't know black people could be gay" crazy! Also the Indian prince was interesting too.

I thought today's show was really interesting. The punishment for being gay in some countries was so extreme. It's sad that some people cannot be their true self because of what could happen to them.

I caught the re-run last night and I must say, its a really good topic! I am interested in stuff like this. I especially liked the Gay prince because i know what he means. I can imagine being in a country that frowns upon an aspect of my life.
