When we talk about hair removal, one of the first things that might come to our mind is the pain it causes. We all know that hair removing can be painful especially when tweezers and wax are involved. Well, in today's modern society, painless hair removal techniques are becoming more and more common.

There are many methods to consider when it comes to painless hair removal. If someone is alone and there is no one that is around to help remove some hair, one process that someone can perform is to apply a depilatory. It might not sound familiar because this is the term that is not commonly used but it simply means that hairs can be removed by using lotion and cream. The lotion and cream contain a chemical that remove the unwanted hairs. This procedure is very easy to perform and anyone can do it in their own home at any time of day.

Another effective method is laser hair removal. This is known to be a very effective hair clear away method and it can make someone's skin softer and smoother as well. However, many people are scared to do this method because they believe that their skin will become more sensitive after using this technique. However, one thing to remember is that the effects of laser hair removal are permanent unlike any other hair removal procedures. This technique is available now in many different clinics. Another kind of painless hair clear away is intense pulsed light, also known as IPL. This method is performed by experts and many people discover that this is one of the most affordable and effective procedure especially when it's compared to laser treatment. Another technique is threads. Whilst there are some who don't believe that threading can be painless, it can be painless if it is done by a professional. This method can be fast and easy to do but it's important to get it done professionally because there is a specific hand position that mimics the motion of scissors in order to remove any unwanted hair.

In the end, it's important to remember that whatever painless hair clear away methods someone will choose should be aware of all the aspects associated with that method to avoid any unwanted consequences. Anyone considering undergoing a hair removal process should research that method carefully and look out for any possible side effects and if they occur. It is also wise to check on the cost of a process, as some may be more cost-effective than others so it's important to choose widely to avoid spending any extra money unnecessarily.

Thank you for the information. What method can you recommend while looking at possible side effects?

Hi Masque. Other than the methods that I've outlined above, I haven't found any other solutions than what most people commonly know about. (I try to bring only the cream of the crop information/content to this forum that most people aren't aware of.)

However...Here are some more helpful suggestions.

Learning as much as you can regarding the possible complications is very important, before deciding if it is the right choice for you.

It is most important to note that people who receive laser hair removal treatments are more likely to experience temporary side effects, than they are to experience permanent side effects.

The most common temporary side effects are:

Hyperpigmentation - This is a discoloration of the skin. This can be red, light or darkened spots on the skin.

Swelling - There can be some skin irritation and swelling in the entire area of the laser hair removal.

Blistering - It can be painful, but keeping the area covered with gauze, and using topical numbing cream can help with the discomfort.

Pain - The entire area where laser hair removal is performed can experience some pain during and after the treatment. Topical numbing cream, or over the counter pain relievers can help.

These issues will go away within a few days to a few months time of completing treatment.

A small percentage of people experience permanent side effects.

The most common permanent side effects are:

Burns -. Usually caused by 'over treating' a particular area.

Scars - Often caused by 'over treating' a particular area, or the product of a burn.

Hyperpigmentation - This may leave irreversible discoloration on the skin.

Some measures can be taken to help avoid these issues.

-Seek out a well trained specialist with a lot of experience.

-Make sure to discuss any medications you are taking with your doctor.

-Do not shave, pluck or wax any hair in the area for several weeks prior to having this procedure.

-Do not wear any cosmetics or lotions on the day of the procedure. They could cause an adverse reaction.

-Do not have a sun tan. If you have a sun tan, let it fade for several weeks prior to having this done.

-If you are prescribed any medications (topical or oral), make sure to use them as directed.

Thank you. I think it's fair enough. How about the depilatory application, would you know of some side effects?

Depilatories are chemical based formulations that dissolve the keratin in the hair by breaking the disulfide bond. The hair weakens from the surface and can be easily wiped clean.

Depilatories are chemical based, so you will be looking for any allergic reactions. Read the instructions carefully before using the product and test it. Put a small spot and wash it off after the given time. Wait for any reaction on that spot for a day and if you see no reaction on your skin, use it. Again be careful that depilatories are formulated in different strengths. You must not use high strength products on your face without reading the instructions clearly. One advantage of depilatories is that it can remove very coarse hair without much trouble. But since the hair is removed from the skin surface and not from the hair shaft, this method is very temporary. The hair grows back in just a few days.

After applying the depilatory on your skin remove it in the given time or when your skin begins stinging. As the chemical dissolves the hair, it may also be hurting the skin. Don't forget to remove the product in the given time. If you begin feeling irritation after using depilatory, ask your doctor for a prescription cream to be used before applying depilatory. Your doctor may prescribe a very low strength steroid cream for that. If you have any skin problem, it is best to consult your doctor before using depilatory.
