I was just thinking about this. I REALLY want to try a pixie cut for the first time in my life but I'm super worried that it will turn out bad. Does anyone have any tips on specifics to keep in mind when getting a pixie? A "best practices" of sorts? And if I don't like it what can I do to speed up the regrowth process? I've heard fish oil can help, but I recall that prenatal vitamins really help with this too. Would multivitamins do the same thing (obviously depending on the formula, but you get what I mean)?

A healthy diet that is naturally rich in nutrients will do more for you skin, hair and nails, but a supplement certainly won't hurt.  As for the haircut, why don't you post some picures of yourself and pictures of the cut you have in mind.  That may help us give you some suggestions.

The body needs a balance of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, carbs and protein for all round health. These work synergistically and in opposition so taking them individually or in small groups can actually be detrimental to health. Skin, hair and nails are not a priority, so skimp on any and you risk the body using it's resources elsewhere. Few women manage to eat protein little and often, in fact many don't start until the evening, and few get the right balance of different fats. As Jeanarick says healthy diet is king, also consider stopping using sulphate shampoos as these can contribute to hair loss and dehydrate both the scalp and hair.

It sounds like you aren't really sure about getting all your hair cut off.

Remember that your hair grows back 1/2 inch a month. So it'll take at least a year to get your hair to touch your shoulders (with a few trims).

Just my opinion but I think pixie cuts look best on slimmer women - model types.

Without posting a picture it is hard to know if one would be flattering on you.

If you like the way your face looks with all hair pulled back, and some short wispy bangs, then I go for a pixie.

If you just want a lot of damaged hair removed, go to a salon and get a nice short style that will suit you better.
