Photoshop help!

ok i am a complete and total photoshop virgin and what im trying to do is take a picture of my brother and cut him out of it then put him in another picture if that makes sense lol. it was meant to be a joke but its so not funny anymore, im completely stressed!!!

anyone know how to do this? i think it has something to do with layers?? but i have no idea what a layer is or how to create one! argh.

Hope this was of some help btw if your original img has a plain background it's 100 times easier so if you can take the photo indoors and near a wall or door

To make things sound EASIER........

You can always just make a new layer UNDERNEATH the original photo and use the lassel tool to take out the stuff you don't want.
