Pigment sample question

Hi all! I'm looking to buy some pigment samples...I'm just a little scared of getting an infection or something. I borrowed my mom's eyeliner before and lined my upper lid and my eye got all itchy and I had this huge itchy, red bump inside my eye. I freaked out!!! I didn't want anything that someone has touched since then...but it seems a lot of girls are ok when using samples they bought from others and I know they are sanitized in some way, right?

Has anyone ever got infections/allergies from samples that you bought from someone else? Just want to know what you guys think...
