lol. So weve all been finding new suppliers of pigments lately, such as NYX, Jesse's girl, etc. But today i was in Michaels Craft store and i found these.

12 Pigments in each pack, a variety of colors, same consistency, same beautiful colors.

And of course they dont have as many colors as MAC does. But its a great price. 12 come in a pack, i got both packs of different shades for 24 dollars each.

Sad thing is they dont have black included in the package. But whatever other specific colors that most dont make, can be mixed or splurged on at MAC. But for beginners or for people who just want the basics these are great.

BTW theyre called pearl ex pigments.

Heres what they say about them:

Pearl Ex creates a metallic look without being a metal. The particles are flat platelets with two surfaces, therefore it lays down beautifully like a thin coating of metal. The different particle sizes produce different looks — from a fine, smooth, pearly luster to a highly metallic sheen.

It is a safe, non-toxic, inert powdered pigment with a neutral pH. It is extremely color fast and stable — it will not tarnish or fade and is therefore ideal for archival applications.

So no there not made for Makeup, but i there made of mostly MICA like MAC. And just like mac, they can be added and mixed into things such as nail polish.. etc.

And there non-toxic but if i do die while trying them i'll let you all know lol.

Hi,

This looks like it would be great for someone heavily into nail art. Thanks for posting.

You know your right! I could actually see someone wearing Black nail polish then painting a coat of clear polish over it and lightly sprinkling one of those over it to give it pretty little flecks of color.

Some beautiful bright shades in that one pack there. Please be careful if attempting to use as eyeshadow. Great find!

wow...i have these and actually wondered if you could use these as eyeshadows(i have never tried). I am a rubber stamper and they are supposed to be used for making cards, crafts, etc, but i will definitly give it a try for eyeshadow.

I feel the same, I would be ok with using them for making nail polish but I definitely would not feel comfortable using them around my eyes.

It's kind of silly that people would be afraid to use these, as if the ingredients in MAC or any other brand are that much safer. Nothing that isnt organic is really "safe" for you anyways these days, lol. When I wear MAC or any other brand that isnt natural I am aware that it's probably not the best thing for my face.

You guys i think i'll be ok lol. There ingredients are about the same as MAC. MICA MICA MICA! lol which is also used in lipsticks, etc. But some mac pigments cant be used around the mouth, etc. But i will be careful, i'll be posting them tomorrow with 24 swatches for you all to see lol.

Each pack cost me about 25 dollars. So thats 2 packs for 50, which is not that bad compared to MAC since i'd only get about 2 pigments with 40 dollars spent at MAC lol.

I bought them and have used them. Not around the bottom of my eye but on the lids. They are very pretty colors and they change shades some when you wet them. I make sure that I use a primer first just incase they would stain. I want to find the other colors as well.

At least MAC labels which products are not eye safe or lip safe! These are not originally intended for use on the skin whereas cosmetics have been specifically formulated for that.

And just because ingredient lists contain similar ingredients does not mean the products are the same or that one is safe to use if the other is! Just my opinion...
