I haven't tried either of those two but I had another black bar soap before that I bought from a local soap maker. It was a lot more harsh to me. It cleaned but my skin burned a lot more. It could just be my hyper sensitive skin though. That's part of the reason I was so surprised when I liked the liquid black soap. I will be curious to see other peoples comparisons.

I haven't used either brands, but I do use black soap.

The black soap I use is from Ghana. It's sold at a store that sells all African products. I love that the soap is all natural. My helps exfoliate my skin and helps keep it moisturized. The only downfall, is that the texture is kind of rough. Once I even got a little cut on my arm, but it didn't break skin. I still use it because I love the way it makes me skin feel. I make sure that I don't rub it too hard.

I tried the Coastal Scents black soap I had as a sample from IMATS LA 2012. I was told by the guy who gave it to me that I should not use the soap directly on the skin, just lather it with water and apply it on damp/wet skin. It is moisturizing enough but have not fully experienced the benefits since it is sample size. I used it just on my face. At first, I had break outs but after a few use, it made my skin smooth, though at times, a bit dry. (I have Normal/Combination skin type)

I did not get the chance to buy it again. I bought a different one in Amazon for cheaper price ($15.00 for 6 soaps), and it seems it just works the same as the CS one.
