Here's my speed on our ADSL connection (the benefit of living on-campus, free high-speed internet!
) :
Download Speed: 1052 kbps (131.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 269 kbps (33.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
I do wish we had better upload speeds though, sometimes it takes a while to upload a large file onto our servers, I am always transfering files between my home computer and the school's servers for class projects and such! (And our apartment is on the school network! The ADSL must be the bottleneck; I had faster speeds when I lived in the dorms my first year and had an Ethernet connection
)
Yep, GG ADSL is usually pretty slow. Not as slow as dialup, but relatively speaking compared to cable or fiberoptic.
To answer your other question regarding Liz's question. Yep it sure does matter if you are DLing music and trying to run the test. Think of it as water running through a hose. Only so much water can go thru a hose. If you divert some of that water to another spigot at the same time, then you will get less water out of two spigots. But the total of those two spigots will equal the maximum.
