I'm here to ask opinions and suggestions on stretching your shoes. -specifically flats. My feet are not wide. But I guess they are a smidge too wide for flats. I end up with redness and/or blisters on my feet.... I was researching stretching shoes and found a post that suggests filling a Ziploc bag halfway with water and putting it inside the shoe, then that in the freezer. When the water freezes and expands, it expands the shoe. Then you take them out and wear the shoes. Apparently they "mold" to the shape of your feet..anyone done this? Or do you have a better, fail safe way to give my feet some relief from breaking in new flats?? Much appreciated, thanks!

I put on thick socks, then shoes and wear them around the house. They stretch to be a little bit larger than your feet and don't hurt while you do it because of the socks.

That would depend on whether the shoes are leather or plastic.  If you dampen leather a little and wear them around the house with thick socks, they'll mold to your feet and stretch.  You can stretch leather shoes up to a whole size that way.  I've done that before to a beautiful pair of leather brogues that were on sale and 1 size too small.

You spray the shoes with water to dampen (not soak them).  Put on wool socks and your shoes and wear them around the house.  After an hour, try the shoes on without socks for fit.  If its still too tight, spray them again and repeat.

This only works for leather... plastics you'd probably just keep wearing them til they stretch out from the heat of your feet.

My mom does the freezer trick, I've never done it though. Just check on your shoes, you don't want to leave them in there too long!
