I loved the part about the Sunday dinner. So true. Since I am 100% Italian, this really brings me back. I remember one holiday I invited my then boyfriend to dinner. My mom served the usual covadalles (don't know how to spell it) with meatballs sausage and everything. My boyfriend was loving it filling up his plate a few times. Then she brings out the main course which was turkey, potatoes, stuffing etc. He couldn't believe that there was that much food. He thought the pasta was the whole meal. I guess I should have filled him in. Too funny. Then of course if he didn't try everything she would say, "what's the matter? you don't like it?" My mom grew up in the North End in Boston. Another place where there were mostly Italians living there.
