Women Role Models

There are a lot of young Hollywood girls who are bad role models: Lindsay,Paris,Britney etc.

In your opinion which famous actresses or singers do you believe are good role models for young girls to look up to these days?

Who was your role model when you were younger?

WOW...that is very true. I think Alicia Keys is an amazing role model. She is doing so much. Also the young girl from Hero. She's amazing. HAH. I looked up to the spice girls growing up. LOL

I think Hayden Panettiere, Anne hathaway, tyra banks, and a few more, but really.... there aren't that many appropiate role models when you think about it

I love Gwen Stefani. I think she is so super creative and original and she doesn't care what anyone thinks about her. I think that that's an important message. Be your crazy self.

There are some excellent names being chosen. I'd like to add singer/poet Jill Scott to the list. My personal role models were my grandmothers and mother.

Hhhmmm...I don't know who these days. Although, the ones already mentioned aren't too bad. When I was young I wasn't really into the whole celebrity thing. I loved Nadia Comaneci and Mary Lou Retton. I was a huge gymnastics fan. So...I was more into sports figures than singers or actresses. I like the Russian figure skater too. I forget her name now. LOL!! It's been awhile.

Today I think Miley Cyrus - Hannah Montana is a great role model for the younger set. Maybe Jennifer Anniston. I always admired Jacqueline Kennedy for her class and grace. She helf a country together during an assasination. If she had fallen apart I think chaos might have broken lose--yet, she had this quiet dignity about her--and was so beautiful.

Scarlett Johansonn - her and Natalie will be in "The Other Boylene Girl" - love them and love genre films like that.

After reading about Jennifer Love Hewitt posting on her blog about loving your body, I'd say she's a good role model. My role models were rarely ever actresses/singers. My role models are people like Gloria Steinem and my Geometry teacher, who was a kick-a$$, smart woman.

I`m not too found of the glamourmodels. Way too many norwegian girls look up to them and want to be like them. I have a 4 year old daughter and I DON`T want my girl to look up to them.Very bad rolemodels.

I never had role models when I was younger either. No one is perfect and I'm sure some of these women are not as angelic as is made out

I like hannah montanna too, actually, haha she's a cute role model. And the girls in the aussie show 'the sleep over club' are good teen role models!

they're not only pretty and stylish, but nice too! (haha the impossible dream)

i love angela bassett. i think she's beautiful, classy and super smart. i think that makes a great role model for women.

my role model has always been my mom. she passed away many years ago (i was 27), but her impact on my life has been amazing! i still remember the lessons she taught me and i'm amazed at how much love and guidance she fit into 27 years! i still miss her alot.
