How old were you when you first started wearing makeup? What was the learning experience like? Who helped/influenced you? Here's my answer: I was 13 and in junior high. I'd asked my mom if I could wear some makeup and if so, would she teach me?? Also, that was the same time I'd asked to shave my legs. Haha. My dad said "why??" I said "because I don't want to look like a gorilla." I think he had a hard time with it because it was a sign that I was becoming a woman... sigh. It took him 2 weeks to okay it. Um, anyway... my mom showed me how to apply it. She tweezed my eyebrows a bit which hurt. She put on light eyeliner, eyeshadow and some nasty orange-colored lipstick. I LOVED everything but the lipstick. But when I first looked at myself in the mirror, I was shocked! OMG instant woman!!! I looked a few years older and I started to think I might be even kinda pretty .. but I wasn't sure. LOL. The next day, I put on my makeup ... minus the orange lipstick. My dad took me out to play tennis. I am not sure if my feelings reflected reality, but I felt different. I did not feel like a little girl anymore and I noticed that my dad was kinda looking at me funny. (I wondered if there was some kind of bra that would staple down my boobs since they bothered me and I didn't want to have any.. especially not around my dad). So there ya have it. My dad got used to it. There was a new "distance" between us as we both did some adjusting. Soon, I started putting highlights in my hair with lemon and discovered boys. This new world was not so bad after all. It was a tad more exciting than the old one.

* Lies down on the couch* My Psychosis: Well, it all began when I was about 15 years old. I loved live rock music but I wasn't allowed into clubs because of my age. So one night I put on my sisters makeup and it came out pretty good. I went to the club and low and behold they didn't card me. From then on I always wore makeup and did it for my girlfriends too. When I was 17 I was asked to do the makeup for a wedding, the bride came up to me & asked me about my makeup which led to her asking me to do the makeup for her & her wedding party. Needless to say the money was great and that was that, I was in! Originally Posted by Californian How old were you when you first started wearing makeup? What was the learning experience like? I started wearing eyeshadow and lipstick when i was about 13, and i looked horrible. I didnt know how to put on eyeshadow and you can totally tell. hahaha. I cant even imagine that. Anyway my mom didnt let me wear make up, test make up or anything. She said i can start wearing it at 16. She wouldnt offer me any tips or even let me try hers. Such a mean mommie!! argh

anyway, that didnt stop me, I would aks my friend's older sister to get it for me, and i use my allownce money. I would buy like jordana make up for $1 a piece. ahaha. I put them on in the bathroom at school. Sometimes i would just look like a hooker cuz of too much eyeshadow and racoon eyes. hahaha.

I started wearing powder foundation my senior year in high school and thats when i had professional training in putting on make up. I would get make overs at the mall and spend all my allowance buying make up. I reasearch online, learn about new products, and im getting better each day. I read magazines for tips and what's hot.

I never touched liquid foundation until this year because my skin got really bad because of a new environment.

u know what, i can never fake being older no matter what. I dont know what it is, but i have always looked young for my age. I'm 22 now, and i still get crap from the bouncers when i go to clubs. I show them my ID but i always get questioned. haha. One time i was at a grocery store buying alcohol for a party, and the sales clerk didnt believe that was my real id and she had to go call her manager to double check. wat the heck was that all about. Hmm maybe that's why its hard for me to get a job and for people to take me seriously, because most people think im 16-17

I started wearing makeup when I was 12. I used too much of an eye liner now that I think of it.

I also used some foundation powder, lip gloss and mascara. My mom wasn't against it at all. My dad used to say that my eyes looked black and that I wore too much makeup. Me and my best friend started wearing makeup together at the time. I didn't ask for any advice from my mom because I didn't think she could help me. I wanted to figure it all out on my own.

My friend and I took the bus to the department store and bought some makeup. Nothing too expensive just couple of things. Ever since I've been wearing makeup. I looked young for my age back then and makeup really didn't help. I still look way younger than my age and again makeup doesn't help much. Sometimes it's very annoying but I know I'll be happy when I'm older.

I think I was 12 when I started wearing makeup..The 1st cosmetic items I bought were..CG Sugar plum Ice l/s..A CG e/s trio that contained a lightest bluish white,a med.blue and a dark blue grey and an Estee Lauder tube concealer that was WAY to pink for my complexion that I used ALL over my face**YIKES**..and yes sadly I wore ALL of these items together thinking I looked good..Happily my color choices and application techniques have vastly improved over the years
