  1. Trind Perfect Cuticle & Nail Kit

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 04/17/2011 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Easy to use, moisturizing Cons: Not a shining star Price Value: 3 - Just Average Value Purchase Price: 0.00 Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

I was happy to participate in the Trind challenge.

My nails were relatively healthy to begin with, so I thought I would be able to give an honest opinion from someone who didnt require too much work on their nails.

I applied the products as recommended by the challenge.  While we were only required to use the file once, I found that I needed to buff my nails (at the minimum) every third day.  I had white build up on the edges of my nails and cuticles.

My cuticles and nails were otherwise healthy and moisturized and I have no complaints of the product.  However, I also found that the product didn't do anything that wasn't comparable to other products I have used in the past.  My nails grew their normal length and were as strong as they were previous to product usage.

I can say however, that my nail growth was a shade whiter than normal.  Whether or not that represents better growth/harder nails I cannot tell you since on any given day I have nail polish color on.

  2. Meh.

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Nails were somewhat shinier and harder. Cons: Formaldehyde, Nails were breaking, Peeling Price Value: 0 Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 0 Description:

This product isn't the best product, but not the worst either. It eventually made my nails crack because they were hard i guess. If your nails are super thin and puny, you might want to give this a chance. Honestly, my nails aren't that much different then they were before. I did go ahead and cut down my nails because of the breaking. I don't think I would use this in the future.

  4. Nail Growth!

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Cuticle and nail balsams are very moisturizing, feels great, nails are stronger and longer! Cons: Nail Repair peels off in the shower, expensive, not a good base for nail polish Price Value: 3 - Just Average Value Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

I was very excited when Trind contacted me to try out one of the kits for 2 weeks, because I was curious to see if my nails would grow past their "stuck" length, and if they would break as often. While I was not as concerned with my cuticles, as I tend to be OCD with them as it is, it was a perk to get the kit with the Cuticle Balsam, because I did want to try it :)

    Day One/Before:

Day 7: (bare nails before reapplying)

    Day 14:

Amount of product left after 14 uses:

    trind3.jpg

My nails were not in bad shape to begin with, by any standard. I buff them and use a strengthener regularly, so I did not see a difference in that aspect. With that said, I had a total of 1mm growth on every nail (with left index at 1.5mm growth!), which was a pleasant surprise! There were also no breaks, even when one of my nails got bent upwards at a severe angle. I really liked how moisturizing the nail balsam was, but the nail repair was definitely at the bottom of my list with this kit. No matter how long I let the nail balsam absorb and dry before applying the nail repair, it would ALWAYS peel off in the shower, which was very frustrating and unattractive.

The cuticle balsam was very nice; moisturizing and absorbed very quickly without any greasy residue. Definitely my favorite product in this kit, but I honestly can't judge how well it works, because I always use a cuticle oil/etc on a daily basis... but my cuticles did not get dry or flakey, even with using polish remover every day, so I guess it did it's job! :)

Overall, I love the cuticle balsam and recommend it to anyone that needs a cuticle "oil" that is not greasy! The nail balsam felt great, and I would recommend it. The nail repair and I did not get along, so I can't recommend it. The products did what they were supposed to, my nails feel stronger and they grew past their "stuck" length, which was nice :)

Thank you, Trind, for providing this kit for the 2-week challenge! I really enjoyed trying the products, and would love to participate in further reviews :)

  6. Good, But Not Great

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 04/14/2011 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Stronger, shinier, less peeling nails Cons: Drier cuticles, didn't speed growing much, contains formaldehyde Price Value: 0 Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

    General Pros:

    • Easy-to-open bottles
    • Long-bristled brush
    • Nice scent (not too chemical-ish)

    General Cons:

    • Contains Formaldehyde
    • Time consuming--difficult to remember to do nails again every day

    After 14 Days Of Use

    Pros:

    • Nails were stronger
    • No peeling of the nails at all
    • Less ridges
    • Nails were shiner and looked healthier

    Cons:

    • Cuticles seemed drier (with the two-bottle program)
    • Nail growth seemed the same, not any faster

For the most part, I was happy with the ways my nails looked after the 14 days of usage. It is difficult, however, to remember to do the treatment EVERY day for 14 days. My nails did show considerable improvement in regards to peeling. They also seemed stronger and less flexible. My cuticles, however, seemed drier after using the Nail Repair coat.

Was I happy with how it made my nails look without polish? Yes. Would I invest in the treatment if I had to buy it myself? Most likely not.  It doesn't seem to be "cutting edge" in regards to comparative products on the market.  I will, however, continue to use it a while longer to see if I notice any changes beyond the 14 days.

The Moist & Shiny kit is a conundrum to me. The balsam adds moisture to the nail while the nail repair (due to the formaldehyde) removes moisture, leaving me with nails that are about the same as they were when I started this challenge. It's not really a bad thing. I like both products and plan to incorporate them into my treatment regimens, but I just don't see the point of using these together.

Overall, the Moist & Shiny kit maintained my nail's health very well. The Nail Repair also makes a great base for polishes. Also, I didn't experience any breaks.

I used this product every day for 2 weeks. For me, the first week didn't have much of an effect. A few days into the second week, my nails started feeling stronger. My nails aren't peeling as much as they did without this product. However, due to the fact that you have to use polish remover everyday you reapply the kit, my cutcile is very dry and cracked. 12. GREAT nail polish

Brand: milani Purchase Date: 06/01/2009 Product Image: Rating: 1 Star Pros: Long lasting, amazing colors, fast dry time Price Value: 5 - Excellent Value Purchase Price: 3.50 Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

The first time I purchased Milani Nail Lacquer was when I was browsing through a local drug store and they had a "Buy One Get One" half price sale. I needed a nail color to wear to my high school reunion that was approaching in a few weeks, and since I was wearing a black and white animal print dress, I thought a stunning red would be perfect. So I picked up Milani's in "Ruby Jewels". It was the nail polish version of Dorothy's ruby slippers in The Wizard Of Oz!!

We all know if we can find a good polish with stay power, we have found a gem. I can usually figure with a top coat, my Milani Nail Lacquer will last me at least 4 days without a chip. Considering the amount of work, writing, typing and cleaning done during the course of my day, 4 days is a good wear-time for my nail color.  My nails also feel pretty healthy after wearing Milani's Nail Lacquer and very seldom does it stain my nails yellow. It goes on easy, with only two coats needed (sometimes one, depending on the color) and dries fast. It is also easy to remove, and even easier on the wallet.

With the frequent sales at my local store, this is a great drug-store brand of polish for its variety, wearability and price!

  14. Trind Perfect Cuticle & Nail Kit Trial

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 04/15/2011 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Quick and Easy to apply, very shiny, hardens nails, quick dry Price Value: 0 Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 0 Description:

I just got my fake nails taken off to participate in this trial.  After having fakes on for over 3 yrs it's a definite change. I started out buffing and polishing my nails with the enclosed file and that made my nails squeak! LOL Nice and clean, right?  Next the cuticle balsam is applied and you let it sit for 2-3mins and rub in any excess after that time period. I didn't have any extra.  My cuticles are super dry and sucked up the stuff! Next goes on the Nail Balsam and you let that sit for the same amount of time and rub in any excess.  I had a bit of excess to where I had to wipe some off.  Maybe I used too much, not sure.  Will try less tomorrow. Finally, the Nail Repair goes on, and that's the nail hardener.  It did make my paper thin nails a bit stiffer.  Wish we were adding to the layers and not  taking the layers off inbetween to build up the strength. But we shall see how well the Repair works on its own, daily. Every step dried so fast. No over powering smells either. Hubby didn't complain at all and usually he's the first one to complain!.  Hopefully this helps and I'll be back in 7 days to give you an update on how well this product worked.  So far, I have high hopes for it.

  15. Day 6 in the Trind Moist & Shiny 14- Day Challenge

Brand: Trind Purchase Date: 04/15/2011 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Shiny, Strong Nails. Reducing peeling affects. Cons: Dried out cuticles. Formaldehyde. Price Value: 0 Purchase Price: 0.00 Packaging Quality: 0 Description:

This is an opinion placed after using the product in this kit for 6 days:

There is no doubting that the nail repair product creates a strong surface to product the nails from breakage and peeling. Since the nail is stronger it is had the ability to grow out ever so slightly. Particularly on my right hand I can see the effects of peeling disappearing (middle and pointer finger).

But I have notice some side effects of this product. The nail repair contains formaldehyde. This can be a toxic chemical if inhale. Now by applying the nail product you are not going to inhale it and I am sure this product has a very expectable and harmless level of formaldehyde. But with that being said I think I would rather it not contain this chemical.  Most nail products are moving away from using this big "F".

Finally the most disappointing side effect from the product is it is drying out my cuticles! I haven't seen my cuticles look this poor since I bleached down workspaces in the dead of winter. I apply cuticle oil and lotion, as well as occasionally use a cuticle remover. But this has been a real downside! My cuticles actually hurt from the cracking and peeling!  The product says that you should protect with "cream". What cream? None was included in my trial kit and I don't own any cuticle cream on hand.  I don't know if it is the formaldehyde causing the drying effect or another chemical.

So right now my opinion is focused on the negative due to the cuticle situation. What use is having longer, stronger nails if you cuticles look like a Brillo scrub pad?

  17. Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps (Berry Frost)

Brand: sally_hansen Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Nice color Price Value: 5 - Excellent Value Purchase Price: 1.00 Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

I purchased the Sally Hansen no chip acrylic top coat Sunday at the dollar tree one of my favorite stores because it stated the product would harden your nails and keep your polish on for a week without chipping. Well I am almost at day five and my polish still looks great and is still holding on. Today I did notice a small chip on one nail but it was so small only I noticed it. The color I am wearing is call Berry Frost and one thing I like about this polish besides it staying on the nail is that I don't really need a clear coat over it, because once I apply the polish it had a high shine to it. When I applied the polish I used the Sally Hansen only and then applied a clear coat over it.

I went back to the store today and purchased five more in different colors, lets see how they hold up.

Brand: opi Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Price Value: 0 Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 0 Description:

I remember my mom wearing this color all the time while growing up. I'll never forget when we were out as a family for breakfast and the waitress just started to rave about how beautiful the red nail polish was on my mom's nails. When she asked my mom what color it was called the waitress didn't find it very amusing. I'm not sure if she still liked the color after that! lol But the color is a perfect sexy red nail polish. A color that I would wear on my toes all summer long!

  20. For the sailors !

Brand: china_glaze Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Rating: 0 Pros: creamy, opaque, shiny Cons: layering is better Price Value: 2.5 - Not bad, not good value Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 4.5 - Very Good Packing Description:

Beautiful navy blue, creamy and shiny. It's very opaque, so if you're on a rush one coat can be enough, but two are better. It needs a top coat if you want it to last without chipping. I guess you can find navy blues elsewhere, but if you don't, this one is a good polish to get.

  21. Shower of glitters !

Brand: china_glaze Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: pretty Cons: needs top coat Price Value: 4 - Just OK Value Purchase Price: $ Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

China Glaze's glitters are really worth the check. I absolutely love this nail polish. It's packed with very shiny glitters (not for the faitn hearted...). Applied alone you will need two to three coats, but i've noticed it also shows up nicely over a dark blue polish (i used First Mate, also from CG). Although it doesn't feel too grainy under the finger, you will need a top coat over this one.

A double coat of base is also recommended and it's also a great way to test your polish remover, you may have to rub it off your nail.

I'm a big fan of this polish, it goes on really smooth, is a really great bright happy kind of color. Great for Summer. It took me 2 coats to achieve the color I wanted. I think that since its matte drying it has to have a top coat or it just takes away too much from the colors neon brightness.

  24. China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Brand: china_glaze Purchase Date: 08/16/2010 Product Image: Rating: 0 Pros: Dries fast, Looks good, Price Value: 5 - Excellent Value Purchase Price: 5.00 Packaging Quality: 5 - Excellent Packaging Description:

I bought this along with another polish at a discount nail polish store so it was a really good deal. Anyways, the polish is true to whats in the bottle, it only took me two coats to achieve the sparkleage that I wanted on my nails. The good thing about this polish is that its not just red glitter in a clear polish, its red glitter in a clearish/red polish which is good for a whole consistent look of red on your nails. The polish dried really fast and I didn't have any chipping issues for at least 4 days.

  25. Good base

Brand: opi Purchase Date: 01/01/1970 Product Image: Rating: 0 Price Value: 3 - Just Average Value Purchase Price: 5.75 Packaging Quality: 4 - Just OK Packaging Description:

It's a good base for your nails. The brush holds nicely in your hands, which is something i like from OPI, and it distributes a good amount of product. It's really easy to apply and it dries really fast.

You can perfectly use it as a protective polish for daily wear, or use it as a base for your manicure. If you plan on using a dark polish i would recommend two coats rather than one.

This bottle is quite big so it will really last a long time.

I find it's very similar to my previous base from Mavala called Nail ridger, it fills up your nails to make them even. I really like the thin texture of this base compared to the over creamy Mavala. However, if you really have deep ridges in your nails, then maybe this base wouldn't be enough and i would get a more specific one.
