I'm up in the night again. Instead of shopping online, I'm going to start a beauty inventory. I have a new idea. Ipsy has an amazing beauty profile quiz. It's so detailed. It asks you how often you want to receive each specific type of product, color, and fragrance note. Ipsy this month is sending me a purple nail polish, and I'm excited, as I have only a few polishes, and no purple. This got me thinking: what if I could do an inventory, and fill out the Ipsy quiz based not on what I like, which is what I usually do, but based on my inventory. Then I could justify getting Ipsy and having a No Buy project pan. Interesting experiment, no? First, mascara. I have 15 mascaras. They are all from sub boxes, sets, or GWP. I just got the Too Faced mascara in February Boxycharm. I am currently using an old Maybelline from a Target sub box. I have nice minis by Dior and By Terry, but I am waiting to finish my older ones before using them. They are all black, but I have one primer and one brown. Wish I had that dupe for YSL Burgundy - from L'Oreal, I think? So I am going to enter that I only want mascara rarely on the Ipsy quiz.
I put together my no buy/project use it up for the rest of the year. The idea here is to finish using up all items in some subcategories of products by December 31. This will make me less likely to want to buy new things, because that would set me back from finishing the subcategories by New Year's. Subcategory 1 - Finish Using Foil and Mini Rinse Out Conditioners rahua foil pack Herbal Essences Naked mini Rene Furterer Lumicia mini Oribe Gold Lust mini After using all of these, I will have just one full size conditioner, and six mini leave in hair products left. Subcategory 2 - Finish Using Foil and Mini Face Creams, Oils, and Serums Two Yves Rocher Sensitive Vegetal foils Two Yves Rocher Elixir Jeunesse foils Dior Capture Youth Serum foil Clinique 3 Step foil sample set Chanel Hydra Beauty foil SK-II Facial Treatment Essence mini Avene Hydrance Serum mini Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre mini Mirenesse Powerlift Concentrate mini - use with Mirenesse CC Cream mini Yves Rocher Anti Age Globale mini Yves Rocher Serum Vegetal Wrinkles and Firmness Serum mini - use with Serum Vegetal toner Yves Rocher Wrinkles and Radiance Smoothing Care mini - use with Serum Vegetal toner Yves Rocher Sensitive Vegetal mini Poetic Blend Ghost Oil mini Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum mini Marula Oil mini Clark's Botanicals Day Cream mini After using all of these, I will have only two full sized face creams left, so will be almost completely finished using up this product category! Subcategory 3 - Mary Kay "MK Signature" single eye shadow sample cards Rose Mist Sheer Pink Storm Sugarplum Tropical Sun Vintage Violet Whipped Cocoa (two cards) Whisper Pink After using all of these, I will have only a few duo and trio sample cards left in the MK Signature line. Then, I can begin working on my Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color sample cards. Subcategory 4 - mini shower gels I only have one left - Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds. Subcategory 5 - Holiday Limited Edition shower gels I have two: Yves Rocher 2016 holiday collection Clementine and Spices (almost gone), and Cranberry and Almond After I finish category 4 and 5, I can proceed with using my shower gels - one of the largest parts of my collection, in 2019. Also: pay off credit card $500.54. If I can accomplish all of this by December 31, I will begin 2019 in an excellent way.
On December 11, 2017, I decided to undertake a one year No Buy for the upcoming New Year. I was so excited about it. In the weeks before the New Year, while having fun during the holidays, I worked on getting ready for my No Buy. My goal for the No Buy was to pay off some debts. I prepared for my No Buy by organizing all of my cosmetics, listing my debts in my journal, and beginning to use up a shampoo, a holiday scent shower gel, a cleanser, and a face cream foil pack that were almost finished already. They were items that had been sitting on my dresser forever. That really got me in the No Buy mood. Goal setting: My goal is always to pay off debts. In past years, I would always declare that "I am going on a No Buy to pay off my credit card debt." Since that is such a large and far away goal for me, I think it was easy to get discouraged and give up as soon as I came across a tempting item. I think this is one reason why my past New Years No Buys always crashed in May. I think this year was more exciting because I set a smaller specific goal. I resolved to pay off not all my debt, but one smaller credit card debt each month. That was exciting for me. The goal proved to be too big to fulfill after six months, but I was able to revise it as the year went on. I ended up paying off not all of my debt, but five credit card debts. That was great. For this year, I have a specific, doable goal of paying off another five credit card debts. It is specific, but realistic. I have a payment plan completely mapped out for each month. I will be doing last minute preparations on my debt goals and using up a few last minute items in the coming weeks. I'm excited for No Buy 2019!
Hi guys, hope this post finds you very well. I am beginning another no buy (replacement of any needed essentials only) and project use it up (focusing on deluxe samples) for April 2018. I'm going to spring clean my life. Products I'm using up to begin the month: Mary Kay eye shadow sample card - Real Teal Estee Lauder Eye Makeup Remover - left over from the 2014 Holiday Blockbuster makeup set! Skin Iceland Glacial Facial Wash mini - from Ipsy Tocca Bianca Body Scrub mini - great Birchbox sample 111 Skin minis - I received a mini of the Cryo Activating Hydro Gel in a fabulous Space NK GWP last May. I also received a mini of the line's Space Defense Bright Eye Lift Gel in an Ipsy Offer last year. I was excited to try the line. The products originated with a plastic surgeon in London who worked researchers studying the skin of astronauts, as aging is highly accelerated in space. I used the products last night and I'm not in love with the scent or the way they feel on my skin, but I'm going to use them all up. By not buying anything but essentials, I'm hoping to spring clean from my life another credit card this month. This particular card is not particularly good in terms of fees and interest rates, so I want to pay it off and close it completely. I have already paid my minimum payment for this month and my balance now is: $376.85. Yesterday I received in the mail my statement showing the zero balance from the card I paid off last month. How clean and crisp the paper appeared, and how good it felt to look at it. I felt I had worked hard to earn that paper, and felt proud.
