Honey, if your acne is bad enough to scar it is unlikely commercial acne-fighting products will be of benefit - make an appointment with your dermatologist or family doctor because at 16 it is very likely your hormones are the primary culprit. What is your diet like: are you eating plenty of fruit, veg, oily fish and wholegrains or too much sugary, fatty processed foods? Some nutrients reduce inflammation and help the skin to repair while others may increase the problem.

Perhaps you are also being too enthusiastic with the cleansing and exfoliating? Try using gentle, calming products - no foaming cleansers, daily exfoliants, astringents, alcohol or acne-fighting ingredients (except those prescribed by a doctor), and always a non-comedogenic moisturiser (won't block pores) which includes healing ingredients such as aloe vera, calendula with allantoin or hyaluronic acid. You might consider the Oil Cleansing Method with a clean muslin or microfibre cloth. Castor oil with grapeseed oil are generally recommended for oily skin or acne - but do test this on a small area of skin first, as sometimes girls find their acne worsens before it improves. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I second Firefox's advice.

I would add that you should consider including an oil free sunscreen to your regime.

After you wash your face in the am, apply a thin film of sunscreen under make up or just by itself.

This will help cut down on the red spots/scars you are noticing.

Neutrogena is a decent line - they have good oil free sunscreen

Firefox- I thought astringents were good for oily & pimply skin ?? Also I don't understand why you would cleanse oily skin with ... Oil ?? Just curious because I want to learn more about it (-:

Just because your face is oily, it doesn't mean that using oils on your face is bad.  Oil cleansing method is what firefox is referring too or OCM.  Using certain oils to cleans is more beneficial that using products that strip your face of oils.  Using a foaming cleanser or one that is too harsh will strip your face of the protective surface that your skin needs to protect itself from the elements.  This will dry your face and your skin will react by making more oil.  Its an endless vicious cycle... you wash to dry out your face and your face will make more oil because it thinks its drying out.  If you use an oil cleanser, your face will be clean but there are no harsh stripping cleansers so your face will eventually normalize.

I've been using OCM for almost 2 years now.  My face has gone from oily Tzone and tremendous dryness after washing to being comfortable.  My face is neither oily nor dry and I rarely get a blemish.

Astringents and sulphate surfactants will remove sebum but often the skin will respond by over-producing oil to protect itself; believe it or not skin can be oily and sensitive or oily and dehydrated at the same time due to a harsh routine! Sulphate surfactants are known irritants proven to thin the skin, therefore not recommended for anyone with dry/ dehydrated/ sensitive skin or prone to dermatitis. Many natural oils are non-comedogenic (do not block pores) because this totally depends on the chemical structure of the fatty acids. The oils that are often recommended in the Oil Cleansing Method for greasy skin are castor and grapeseed - castor is antibacterial and helps draw out blockages and grapeseed is light and non-greasy. OCM is believed to gently and effectively cleanse because oil dissolves oil, any residue is removed with hot water and a cloth or sometimes by adding an emulsifier to the mix.

Neutrogena is good for the most part, I'd recommend it. But I don't think you need toner. Toner has alcohol in it and is used to tighten your skin. You're 16, you say, so I doubt your skin needs tightening.

I avoid anything that says "anti-acne" because all that seems to do it cause break outs. I love my Retin-a, but still have to be careful with what I use. Pure jojoba and grape seed oil are good, you can use them as cleansers. Another thing that I've used and liked is a vinegar toner, both plain and apple cider. I used to pin a vitamin A capsule and use that on my face, that worked a little.I used the aspirin mask, but I think it just made me break out, I know some have had good results. Plain yogurt as a mask, done that, liked it well enough, but it isn't a miracle.

You can also try switching shampoos, if it runs down your face in the shower. And wash your hair before bed if you use styling products (so they don't get on your face while you sleep).

ask some advice from  your family doctor, i think it;s very important to anti-acne from inner &outside

Look for a facial wash that contain salicylic acid; it's meant to fight acne. However, you don't want one that a facial wash that makes you skin feel tight after you use it. Gel based facial wash are soothing enough and effective enough to do the job. I used to fight my acne with Murad (which can be found at Sephora). Along with a healthy diet, I was able to clear up my skin by the time I was 15. There's the occasional breakouts, but I blame that to my poor sleeping habits. If you find that none of the suggestions are helpful enough, I suggest for you to consult a dermatologist. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hello,

I understand your problem,i suggest you that you take advice from doctor or any beauty specialist.He/she will give you the best advice that what to do, which cream is best for your skin.Ok dear!!!

My daughter had acne problem too and she tried many different things including the prescription that the Dr gave her. Prescription kinda worked but not completely as you have to handle acne from the inside and outside. After doing a lot of research and reading online, I found this site that has great acne articles http://www.bestacneproducts.net/acne-types/causes.html

I hope this helps.

Have you tried the Unblemish Regimen by Rodan + Fields Dermatologists? Its a clinical regimen created by Drs Rodan and Fields, the creators of Proactiv Solution. Unblemish is a much more advanced product to treat more severe acne. If you don't LOVE your skin in 60 days, you get 100% of your money back :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Nice tips are shared by you.

Thanks for it.....

To get rid of the acne problem it is good to have proper care of skin. Clean your face at lest twice a day, do not eat oily food and junk foods, do not apply any kind of lotion or cream at night time, use aloe Vera gel at night and do practice daily exercise. This will surely help you to get rid of the acne problem.

Everybody wants to be beautiful in his or her own way.  Acne exists almost every person. There are many ways to solve acne problems and infections. To have a healthy skin, eat plenty of seed food like fruits that contain seeds, vegetables and more.

Eat healthily, exercise and get plenty of water. Everyone has some acne issues and at that age, it's pretty normal. If it bothers you a lot, make an appt with a dermatologist. Make sure to clean your face, but moisturise it as well, as dryness can cause breakouts as well. Good luck :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
