It wont ruin it at all, in fact that is one very popular makeup tip, the same goes for eye and lip liners, if you notice they are melting you can put them in the fridge/freezer and it will keep them in good condition for when you want to use them they wont run when you wear them.

 
Make sure it's not too cold, though. If the ingrediants start to freeze, the molecular structure will break down and it will ruin the formula. A good rule of thumb: if you can put water bottles at the back of the fridge without any of the water freezing, you should be safe.
