So, I know that if I use light coverage I can achieve a not-so-patchy foundation, but then my acne and general skin redness bombards and peaks through it and makes my complexion uneven. I don't really know how to dance around this. I moisturize my face but it just feels rough and irritated... I exfoliate, I prime, I moisturize but to no avail can I have a nice coverage. I feel so hopeless. I've heard about coconut oil, but my only concern is that it will cause me to break out more. What are your thoughts on coconut oil? Can it help? Can anyone help me or give me some pointers?! I would appreciate it a lot!! Thanks.

Hi,

(link removed)

The best thing for acne cover up is firstly getting a good primer to act as a barrier on the skin, smashbox photo finish light is great for spots. Then I would recommend one of three products, Estee Lauder Doublewear, Doublewear Maximum Coverage or Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink.

1. Wash with raw African black soap. (i get mine on amazon)

2. Toner - Witch Hazel - you get it from the pharmacy. Neutralizes your skin PH, cleanses out your pores even better

3. Moisturizer - Pure jojoba oil - it most closely resembles skins natural sebum. If you DON'T moisturize your skin will work double time making more oil!

4. Makeup base- Valley Girl foundation from LA MInerals - it has allantoin (a natural antiseptic) and Kaolin Clay (soaks up oil). It covers good and is good for your skin.

STAY AWAY FROM BRANDS WITH BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE! this ingredient causes cystic acne and it's in a bunch of mineral makeup brands.

This is my personal beauty routine...hope it helps :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hi,

I think you should apply your foundation after about 10 mins after prepping your skin and applying moisturiser and then apply 1 thin  layer of a high coverage foundation (like estee Lauder's Maximum coverage) and set your foundation with powder. You should have even coverage that lasts well throughout the day!

Hope this helps
