Do you wear makeup when you exercise or do you go au naturel? Is it bad to wear makeup when exercising? Thoughts?

I usually work out early in the morning so I usually don't wear makeup. I have heard that it is bad to wear makeup because it can clog up your pores and make you more prone to break outs, but I'm not sure if that's entirely true lol

I feel like I am going to get so much shame for this, but yes I wear makeup when I work out.

I don't wear a full face of glam, but just things that I would wear to make myself fell confident, without wearing them I don't even want to go out of the house!

These are under eye concealer, concealer for blemishes, eyebrows, and a little bit of mascara.

I work out in the evening after work, so yes I wear makeup.

I feel like it would be more damaging to my skin to wash my face twice, both before and after working out, than to leave the makeup on and just wash after my workout.

If I workout on the weekend or in the morning I don't bother with makeup  Besides, no makeup is more attractive than makeup sweating off during a heavy workout.  If I don't have sweat running down my face, I consider it recreation, not exercise.

I agree. I workout after work and I barely have time to throw on gym clothes let alone wash my face before getting to class.

I don't think it's "bad" but it's also probably not great for your skin either. My makeup is pretty durable and usually will stand up to crossfit classes, it only runs or gets messy if I intentionally wipe my eyes.

Also I don't wear makeup to my weekend morning classes. But i do spray my hair down with dry shampoo.

I'm an ultramarathoner, and never wear makeup to run/work out. I don't look down on anyone who does, I just don't think I could stand the feeling of sweat and make up on my face at the same time haha

I wouldn't suggest to use makeup during running.. Skin needs to breathe more than normal when exercising and it is not good that you block its ability to do that.

No. I rather save my skin and spare my vanity. Working out equals sweating. If I have makeup on that is just risking clogged pores and acne. I do carry makeup for after though

I work out in the morning and don't wear makeup. But I don't go to the gym, I work out at home. I go running or if the weather is bad I'll jump on the treadmill. Running outside in the summer it's way too hot and humid for makeup, it would just run down my face. I figure no one's looking at me anyway so who cares what I look like!

If you've already got makeup on, then it's fine to leave it on and work it on out, as long as when you're done, while you're still sweaty and your pores are open, you wash (and maybe even exfoliate) reallllllly well.

When we sweat, our pores open. So, anything on our face will get sucked into them. That's why the best time for a charcoal mask is in the shower! The steam and heat from the shower will open your pores and allow the mud to penetrate deep into the pores, allowing it to give you the deepest clean imaginable. So, as long as you're cleansing thoroughly while your pores are still open from the sweat-a-thon, you should be able to avoid a breakout.

I would suggest an exfoliating cleanser post workout, bc not only will it give you a deep clean, but it will also take advantage of that post workout glow by brightening the skin after removing all those dead skin cells and bacteria that can cause dull, lack luster skin. My favorite is Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser. It has a scintillating sweet lemon scent, and is gentle enough to use on sensitive skin. Plus, the lemon scent really invigorates me after a tiring workout!

Only if it's still on from earlier in the day. I may rinse it off but sometimes I don't.

I will put on mascara though, I always wear mascara even if I'm not wearing any other makeup.

I tend to go to classes in the evening so I take my make up off before I go so there is one less thing to do when I get home and just want to collapse on the sofa

I wouldnt suggest wearing make up while at the gym because it definatly will clog the pores. The most i have ever worn is mascara but even that not a lot. Like suggested by others. Let your skin breathe

I never wear makeup while working out, I sweat a lot, and I always use a towel or wash my face if it's very hot during my exercise.. Maybe it's just me, but it looks dirty when a girl has a full face makeup, and then she is all sweaty and it slides down her face.. Not cool.

I dont understand women who wear makeup when exercising / at the gym.I 'am pretty feminine / girly too but I just dont see a point in having makeup on when your going to sweat and smell and be disgusting in about 30 minutes to an hour time frame.Your exercising / at the gym to work out your not going to look good regardless lol so I dont see a point making that effort.I mean I guess some women are so concerned with how they look in public that they put makeup on beforehand but damn like who are you trying to impress  there ? because if you ever looked around before at a gym people are not looking good lol.

Well, I am not that fond of makeup, I used to wear it only for certain occasions like parties, wedding events or events like these. Some may use it during exercise but it feels me pretty awkward wearing it during exercise lol. I mean the basic purpose of wearing makeup is to present you appealing to public but anyways it's everyone's own choice :-)

I sometimes wear makeup to work out - only Mac Powder and a little bit of eye shadow!

I don't think it's bad, but it depends - if I have a spot I never conceal it properly because then I spose that would be bad for it!

    • I made it through the night with no buying! I slept through the shopping craving like it was an illness. I woke up after the 12 hours of sleep and as I was waking up I thought of a happy time in the 90's. I was young; all my family members were alive. I was at a Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies, (I love James Bond and don't know what I am going to do when his new film is released, since I'm not allowed money for entertainment on my No Buy). On the floor near my feet was a big bag of Estee Lauder products that I had just gotten with my birthday and Christmas money. I had a full size moisturizer and a huge PWP, beautiful. The film had a great ending. The Bond girl was underwater, running out of air, and just in time, there's James Bond, the theme music resumes! Great scene! And walking around the mall after, how happy I felt! And today I am sad that time is gone, many family members are gone, life is sadder, time is running out, and I did not use that bag of Estee Lauder products up! I probably used them a few times and then threw them out and bought something else. And maybe if I had used every drop, in my mind, I could have held on to life, to time, to happiness. At any rate I would have had more money. If only we knew about No Buys and Project Pans then! This is just one of a million examples of how I think about this.  When I woke up Elle S was still analyzing her samples! She was talking about how her project taught her to evaluate (excellent video, Oct 1, 2017).  Last night in bed I took some photos of samples I need to use up. Sorry for so many long posts, but I've really had to work on this for the last 24 hours. Primers, shower gels and body scrub, toners, and masques.
    • I haven't given in and bought anything yet, though I wanted to. I went to bed early (I think it was 5 pm), and I was listening to Elle S 365 Days of Samples playlist on YouTube. It is inspiring. Elle is detailed, persevering, and creative. I was very cozy, and I dreamed I was going to a spa in Europe. I was so excited about the spa, and about the skin care products the spa was going to have in the room for us. My mother was going with me, and I told her I was going to bring a minimal amount of beauty products in my suitcase, because we would be getting some from the spa. When I woke up I was sad, because the dream was so nice. Now I just woke up and I'm hot and thirsty, but the craving to shop has gone down somewhat. Before I went to sleep I looked in my sample boxes. I saw a beautiful mini lotion with a gold bow on the package that I got for Christmas and had already forgotten about. The glittery gold bow sparkled beautifully in the light.  This while experience today of realizing I have been on No Buy so long without realizing it has been interesting. I have been keeping busy with other things. I began going to a a new religious congregation a month after I went back on No Buy (a different religion I wanted to learn about for a long, long time) and have been busy with that, and have been making new friends and socializing more. The new religion is one that fills my need for intellectual and artistic (through its liturgy) stimulation. I've met wonderful people. It's not always easy to keep going there, as I'm shy and reclusive, but I've kept it up. Maybe this is what made the time go so fast without me knowing it.  I guess I'll go and listen to some more 365 Days of Samples.
    • I'm changing the way I keep track of the time on my No Buy in order to motivate myself more. I didn't realize until today that I'm in month 8 of my second year! Four and a half months until completion of Year 2! I want to finish my mini sample products by June 12, 2020. Here is a partial inventory: Shampoo minis - all used up! Face cream, and face cleanser minis - all used up after a great deal of work and patience!  Mini body scrubs - 1  Mini shower gels - 7 Mini face primers - 8 Mini toners - 9 Mini face masques - 12 I still have to add up mini body creams, hair conditioners, and perfumes. I should reorganize them all to get a new perspective.
    • Today is the test - will I pass or fail?  Two years ago at this time (end of January 2018, on a Sunday), I discovered Hannah Louise Poston videos for the first time. She had just begun her channel. I recalled cleaning my room while watching the videos and feeling very inspired about my No Buy. I was inspired for an entire year, until ... One year ago at this time (end of January 2019, on a Sunday), I was feeling down. The weather was very bad. There was no good food in the house. I started watching haul type videos. I decided to buy something I didn't need. I felt HORRIBLE and just went on a binge. I tried to hard to get back on the path, but couldn't. I didn't get back on the path until June, when I came back with renewed vigor and had huge success for the rest of the year.  I have been thinking, why don't I just let go again, today? After all, last year I let go and did not ruin myself that much, and then by summer, like a miracle, I was back on No Buy and finished all my goals for the year and more. So I'm using that as justification for cheating. I do have shopping cravings right now. Still, I have not used half of the nice things I got on my binge last year. What will I do? Will I relive 2018 or 2019?  ______ Several hours later. I still want to shop. I cleaned a bit while watching the very first video of Hannah Louise Poston, which was published on January 15, 2018 (Introducing My No-Buy Year!). Watching that brought back a lot of good memories. At the 10:00 mark of this video, Hannah was taking about still being in the exciting early phase of the No Buy, with packages still coming in the mail from the last fling before, and it all being new and not the long haul yet. Then I realized I'm not in the early phase, I'm in the long haul now. I looked at my diaries and realized that I am already halfway through the eighth month of my second No Buy year! It has actually been that long since I began again on June 12! I only have four and a half months to complete in my second No Buy year! I really had no idea I was so far along. So while the calendar year is young, it's August as far as my No Buy Year 2 is concerned. The second year of No Buy goes quickly! I still want to shop, but now I am looking at things differently, and may feel less tempted.
    • Something amazing for No Buy - Project Pan - Project Use It Up followers - I was reading the comments section of a Hannah Louise Poston video (Lots of Empties, published 1/21/2020) and I heard about a beauty shop called Credo that has a special recycling bin for cosmetics. Apparently if you bring your empties in for them to recycle, they give you rewards points for new things. And you can bring in any empties, not just things from their shop, although they don't take nail polish, nail polish remover, or perfume. Wow, I love that. What an inspiration for us to stay with our projects. There is no Credo store near me though. They are only in the major US cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc., but maybe they will expand. Maybe they will find a way to let us mail in our empties? Or maybe I will take a trip someday, if I am good on my No Buy for a long time ... I could get my eyebrows done at their store too. Who knows. They do have an online shop also and they give three samples with orders. They have beautiful things. I think I will sign up with their site and start saving my empties up (instead of putting them in my neighborhood recycling); this may a coming trend! It's inspiring.  I always read the comments sections of No Buy videos on YouTube. I always find great tips and inspiration.
